So I've searched around and can't find an actual solution to my problem.
I installed my Wiikey today with a V3 clip (both are genuine).

The system boots fine.
I can play gamecube and wii games fine.
I CAN'T play SSMB, so I assume the wiikey is effective, as I know you can't play brawl until you update to 1.9s.

So the problem:
I can't get any burned discs to read.

I've tried changing the burn speed (3x, 4x, 8x, 16x) and have tried two different dvd brands (TDK Dvd+r and Dynex dvd-r). I hear TDK works for some people just fine. Dynex is a store brand, so meh on that.

I've tried both ImgBurn (with verify off) and Nero8.
Nothing seems to read.

I've tried burning the padded update file for 1.9s.
I've tried the one from the wiikey site (unpadded).
And the config disc.
I've also tried playing a Metroid Prime 3 backup, which didn't work.

Any ideas on special setting I might need to burn these games correctly? I don't sense any problems from the Wiikey, and the install went ok (easy as pie since I used a clip).

Any help is appreciated.

PS: The Wii is NTSC-US and the chipset is DMS.

New information:

Originally, SSBB didn't work after the wiikey install, and now it randomly works fine. No, I didn't upgrade anything as the discs won't read.

ugh.

Help, suggestions?

If no backups work then you probably don't have the clip seated properly. Make sure it's pressed all the way down and possibility use some electrical tape to secure it in place.

Since Brawl seems to work fine now, I assume the chip itself is the problem.

I'm sure the clip is all the way down, I'm just not so sure the clip and wiikey are working correctly (if at all).

Any suggestions to check on the key or clip?
Like, pins messed up etc?

My wii works fine, and as if there's no chip at all. So it's definitely the chip and/or clip.

If nothing works, I'll contact the seller.
