I was recently referred to the "usbversionfake" program to download stuff off of the Playstation PC store. I'm still a newb with this PSP homebrew/CFW thing but I tried to go to recovery mode but my PSP just loads to the original XMB menu.

I hold the R trigger for 5 seconds (while turning on my PSP) but it wouldn't go to the desired recovery mode screen. Am I just doing it wrong and if so, what is the correct way?

My PSP is currently at CFW 4.01m33. If that is the problem, please tell me what to do next. Thanks!

You press and HOLD R while turning on your PSP? Don't release it at all while it's turning on. You shouldn't have any problems as you're already on CFW. Also, are you sure your R button is functioning correctly? Does it work in games/homebrew? If your R button is fine I'm not sure what could be wrong.
