What you will need (this is assuming that you already have a bootable iPrep 101 USB drive..if not, google on how to do it):
(1) Any nVidia 650i or earlier chipset (I used the MSI P6N SLI Platinum LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i motherboard for this)
(2) iPrep bootable USB
(3) Dosflash 1.4 (we will be using dosflash16..copy DosFlash.exe and DosFlash.typ to your iPrep bootable USB)
(4) Samsung M28 iXtreme 1.4
Okay, let us begin:
1- Disconnect all SATA ports and connect your Samsung M28 to SATA port 1 on your motherboard.
2- Boot off of your iPrep USB Flash drive and press Y at the prompt
4- Type in dosflash. Type in Y when you are asked to do so.
5- You will get a list of ports, 0 - 4. Select 0 and you will get a weird number (flashing 0x51 to 0xD1). Turn OFF your Xbox360 and then turn it back on. You will be presented with your DVD-DRIVE on option 0
6- Select 0 and type in R for backing it up. Give it a name like ORIG.BIN
7- On a Windows XP machine, take that ORIG.BIN and put it in the same folder as the Make iXtreme firmware.cmd batch file. Run that batch file. It will create a file called 1x4.bin.
8- Now, use Firmware Toolbox 4.6 to copy the key from your ORIG.BIN file to your 1x4.bin file. Copy the hacked file to the root of your iPrep USB Drive.
9- Follow steps 1 - 6 but in this case, instead of selecting R select W and type in the name of the file you hacked.
All done! Is that simple or what? Very Happy Enjoy and please leave feedback if you have questions.
Have you tried reflashing a drive with late (5.1 stealth) firmware already on it?
I found you could flash any ms28 drive with old 1.x firmware or factory with just about any sata chipset, but after any 4.x or 5.x firmware flash the via chipset was required.
Confirmed working :) I signed up to this forum just so I can thank you. I have been through heck trying to get my M28 flashed on my nvidia chipset... Thank you so much!
