I would really like to get Remote Play working but I am not having any luck.

Here is my setup:
Playstation 3 80GB Metal Gear - Newest Firmware
PSP - Original Motherboard - 4.01 M33-2 Firmware
Router has PS3 set as DMZ that means all ports should be forwarded, but I forwarded any ports anyone suggested anyhow.

If I try to connect to the PS3 it connects for a brief second, I get a black screen with the Home button at the bottom right. Then it says that it can't find the PS3 I'm referring to, even though I registered the PSP with the PS3.

I have also tried keycleaner and deleted Flash1 and re-registered the PSP.

Any help would be awesome.

For some reason the PSP has a hard time using remote play if the PS3 is not turned on with the remote play option selected.

I know that the PSP is suppost to be able to turn on the PS3 and use remote play but it has never worked that way for me.

I always had to turn the PS3 on first then select remote play on both the PS3 and the PSP then it works fine after that.

PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

I've tried that as well. Same effect though. I'm wondering if anyone can confirm that remote play works with CF4.01 M33-2

so is it a networking issue?

I thought the PSP hooked directly up through the ps3's wifi?

Thats not how it works. It actually depends where you are. The 2 options are connect via private network or internet. Connect via internet if ur not at home but have wifi connection. Connect using private network if ur at home...the PSP doesnt use the PS3's wifi it has its own so it will connect to ur router as if you were just using the internet on the PSP.

So when the PSP asks you to select connection...dont use the Playstation(R)3...use what ever ur home network is.

Oh and make sure On the PS3 you have remote start enabled.
This is done by selecting [Remote start] to [on] under remote play settingd in the PS3 menu.

If I try everything as you have suggested it says:

"The PS3 System was not found. Check that you are signed in on the PS3 system using the same sign-in ID (e-mail address) as for this system, and have selected [Network] > [Remote Play] on the PS3 system."

I am signed in, same user on both machines.

Remote play is selected. I notice that on the PS3 it says "Remote Play in Progress" for a brief moment on the PS3 right before the error message on the PSP is displayed.

Lame lame lame that this has to be screwed with so much to get it to work.

I think a few steps back is needed here to clear things up...we need you to start somewhere and follow some steps so we know where you are and where to focus.

1) Remote Play Wireless Lan (direct connection to PS3) ~ You have an 80gb PS3 so when you are home use the Private Network and connect directly to your PS3 with no router in between. Once you are able to do this then you can go forward and try the next step.

2) Remote Play Via Access Point (connection via your router) ~ Now try to connect via an access point (using the router inside your home). Go to Remote Play and select new connection, private network and do the steps to find/connect to your ROUTER to then connect to your PS3 remotely. The manual in the link I provided shows how to do this.

3) Remote Play Via Internet (connection anywhere there is WiFi) ~ Then using the same principle as #2 try to use your router to connect to the PS3 using the "Via the internet" option to simulate as if you where outside of your house and are trying to connect through the internet via WiFi somewhere

Start from step 1, so we know you can connect to your PS3. Once you confirm you can do that then we can move forward. But If I had to guess though I would think you are having issues because you have ports opened/forwarded as well as the PS3 is designated to be in a DMZ...I think you need to use 1 or the other (ports forwarded OR DMZ) so as to avoid a conflict within the router itself.

But again just start with #1 and post back here then we can go forward.

Can't even get past step 1:

PS3 Internet connection is set up as wired. I have a static IP set up and I am getting an internet connection with Nat2 Type.

Registered the PSP with the PS3

Clicked on Network > Remote Play on the PS3

Went to [Connect Via Private Network]

Went to [PlayStation 3]

get an error saying: The PS3 system that this system is registered with was not found. Check that you have selected [Netowrk] > [Remote Play] on the PS3 system.

So you have still to enable the option within the PS3's settings...do this

1) If you enable the remote start setting on your PS3? system, you can set your system to be turned on automatically (Wake on LAN). Go to (Settings) > (Remote Play Settings) > [Remote Start] and enable it.

Then try #1 again if that still doesn't work we can do 1 option before even step 1.

I traced my steps back through some of the guide and I think it has something to do with the fact that my PS3 won't let me activate my PSP... why would that be?

Did you physically connect your PSP to your PS3 with the USB cable and register it?

Yep... nothing,

But one of the guides says you need to go into account and activate the psp system and that doesn't work.

After fumbling around with remote play I finally got mine to work after the USB syncing (and turning on RP on the PS3) by rebooting both systems (PS3 and PSP). I connected through my Playstation 3 connection and got excited when it worked...until I noticed I was getting no sound through my PSP. I could watch all the d/l'd movie trailers but no sound.

With my PSP still playing the video I went downstairs to my PS3 turned on my TV and it was a black screen but I could hear the audio coming from the TV.

This is not what I was expecting. Did I miss a step?

Did anyone solve this problem? I get the same. Tried all the step here and it still won't work. I've used keycleaner to fix some keys as I did have an IdStorage failure a couple of months ago. Could this be the problem? All keys are said to be fixed by the keycleaner.
