Ok, I got the chip installed. Turn it on. The led on the modchip is a steady red. I stick a burned game into the wii and go to the disc channel and all it says is "Unable to read the disc..."

Ive tried 4 different games, Final Fantasy, Boom Blox, SSBB, SPM.

Wii - NTSC/USA
Firmware - 3.3u
Modchip - Solderless D2pro 5/9 wire Modchip with SPI
Burn Speed - 4x
DVD Type - Verbatim DVD-R
Burning Software - ImgBurn

So how do I fix this problem???????? plz help

What drive set do you have?

Make sure you have the proper setup 5 or 9 wire that corresponds to your drive.

If you have a DMS/D2A/D2B then the five wire is needed. If you have a D2C then the 9 wire install is needed. If you have a D2C2 or D2E drive then the normal D2Pro will not work. You need D2Pro V2 for D2C2 and D2Pro V3 for D2E.

The image shows you have 9 soldering points made between the Modchip and D2Pro so it is a 9 wire install.

The issue you could be having is the drive itself could be a D2C2 drive.

The D2C2 boards are not labeled D2C2. They say D2C on them.

There is still a possibility that you have a D2C2 and that is why the D2Pro is not working. You might have to order a D2Pro V2.

Can you take a picture of your drive on both sides and post them?

Or use the below suggestions from others that supposedly identifies if you have a D2C2 drive...

If the board has AMX on the drive ID#...

If there are 2 letters under the board ID#...

The spindle part on top of the drive is different between D2C and D2C2...

Yesterday I tried installing the solderless d2pro chip. I managed to do everything right- the blue led flashed and everything was fine, but when I was about to close the machine, I thought itd be wise to test the machine before closing it- red light only, and it didnt go off. The drive didnt take in or eject anything while the chip was on. When I took it off, everything wotked fine. Could it be that the chip is damaged? I took it on and of like 8-10 times.

I had the same problem with a possible D2C2 drive. With the wire installed instead of the solderbridge it worked a bit better but with a reprogramming of the D2Pro V3 to V2.3 everything works perfect. Just make sur you don't have a D2E because than your P2Pro becomes useless after programming.

That is the same exact CHIP I got from that vendor and I still have problem. I have tried about 15 discs and only 1 worked for me (Top Spin 3 NTSC)
I don't know what else I can do to solve this. Kept getting "unable to read the disc" from the beginning and also in the middle of the game.

I have the D2PRO5/9 for my D2E
