I have recently installed D2PRO9 V2 presoldered to WiiClip V4. Everything seemed fine as all the lights were working and the most of the backups were loading and showing the game logo on the Wii menu.
Next day, I played few of the games without any problems. However, when I tried to play the same games couple of days later, it wouldn't load. Once I put the backup DVD in, the Wii drive doesn't even spin to read.
Since these games did work the first time, I don't think it is the media problem. The original (Wii Sports) works fine, but all of the backup DVDs don't work and the drive doesn't spin. I can't run the D2PRO9 utility disk either.
I can't expect the WiiClip to fall out since my Wii is always place stably on its stand.
Can anyone possibly shed some light into this issue?
I finally got a chance to open up my wii. I first checked if the modchip was working correctly. When I put the power on, I noticed that only the steady red light shows. Isn't there supposed to be blue light also and red light should not stay on. Can anyone tell me if something is wrong with the D2PRO9 chip or the WiiClip? Without the D2PRO9 and WiiClip, the Wii works perfectly fine with the original DVD games. Thanks.
After getting not much response from here and from canadamods.ca, I decided to play around a little and also to solder the "j" points with extra wire. First of all, soldering was quite difficult. I wouldn't do it if you have no experience with soldering.
After all that work, I found out that the extra wire was not needed for my Wii. There were 2 possible causes: (1) weak connection between the Wii-clip and the chip in the Wii, (2)weak connection between the D2PRO9 modchip and Wii-clip.
I actually had to bend the D2PRO9/Wii-clip slightly to get it to work. Then, I had to press on the Wii-clip every once in a while to get it to work also. I believe the Wii-clip is becoming loose as the DVDs are put in/out and the light vibration of the DVD drive itself.
I'd like to put my Wii back together, but I am afraid that I have to open it frequently just to reposition the Wii-clip. So far, canadamods.ca has not reply to my emails. I would certainly appreciate for any suggestions or know-hows. Thank you.

Sound similar to problem i had worked at first then stops, took out replaced works again...then i realised it was not the clip connection but evrytime i left the wii on standby!!
If you turn wii off by holding button for 4 secs and leave off for few minutes it works again. supplier told me to solder J wire too.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem? ive since chipped 3 more wii's and they all do the same cant leave them on standby??
is this some sort of stealth mode??? thought you had to solder wires for stealth thingy.
