I have a Pioneer A06 Drive, and a PS2 with a DMS3 Mod Chip. To make DVD-R backups, what kind of media will work? What is the best kind??? Thanks!

despite what the rumors and myths say, the media does not matter- a sony dvdr works the same as a compusa brand

if you have a +r drive- any +r will burn with your drive
if you have a -r drive- any -r will burn with your drive
my ps2 plays both + and -r backups, but i have heard of older ps2s not liking +r

the brand doesnt matter in quality or compatibility- the compatibillity has to do with + or - media.

The brand of media you use DOES matter. It's pretty ignorant to say it doesn't.

no it doensnt matter because i use the cheapest i can find and they always work in any player i put them in so its ignorant to waste $4 a disc on meorex when you can spend about $1.50 o cheaper brands.
your ritek should work fine!

I can say this... I have a Pioneer DVD burner and burn movies (with DVD workshop and DVD encrypter). With my Maxell DVD-rs I have 0% problems running them in the PS2. With the Riteks I have some problems. The 1x Ritek DVD-r media works about 90-95% of the time. But the 4x DVD-r media isn't as easily recognized. I'm still doing a LOT of testing because I'm so frustrated. They work flawlessly in every other DVD player I've tried, but the PS2 is finicky as we know. But never a problem with the maxells. The problem is those cost 300% more. And I used the inkjet label media so that's about $3 a disc for maxell. Jeez. I also don't do game backups so maybe these problems don't appear in those regards.

I've never had to slow burning speed from maximum settings, but then I have a plextor! ;p
My version 7 PS2 plays both DVD-R and DVD+R though it doesn't like some +R media. Arita DVD+R 4x works. Of -R these work for me:
Digital Matrix
Ritek G04
BeAll
-R didn't work:
DVDPro (aka Princo)
As I've mentioned previously the folks at Meritline.com sell cheap media. It works for me. Be wary though as they tend to be clueless, offensive, rude, and dishonest. Customer service isn't a high priority. But if you find the ultracheap DVDs work for your console then have at. For PC data backup I'd spend the money on "brand name" discs :)
plextor!

Maybe u don't understand my question.
I have 2 DVD Burners
1 NEC 1300A
1 HI-Val HDVDRW4D
Both are Dual format 4x I only burn DVD-R not + !!I have extremely good luck at 2x useing both at the same time 100% no bad discs.Only at 4x do I have a problem using both at the same time 20% error rate (ALL RITEK DISCS)
My problem! when I burn 2 DVD's at the same time they both get ruined If by chance 1 Disc is bad.Is their any way 2 stop this through Nero and just keep on burning the good disk,if by chance 1 Disc is bad
I really don't want to blame the Discs,Because I have no problems when I burn at 2x
Again burn at 2x 100%
burn at 4x 80%
Single burn either drive 4x 100%
Never & I mean never 200 burns no error
