Hi i just bought a brand new psp was thinking of updating my firmware to 4.01 M33-2 but is it true if higher u update the less homebrew apps you get to use??
Srry im bit of newb at this...... but wat r these homebrew apps??
I'm new to this, so I don't know if it's true the higher CFW you have, the less work. I think that is mostly related to the old PSX games running on the PSP, but there is an application to help with that called popsloader.
I'm using firmware 4.01 M33-2 on my PSP FAT... runs SNES, NES, Genesis, N64 and Amiga emulators fine... and even plays my favourite PSX games (love the Final Fantasy series!).
KainUK im going to correct you as I was corrected bout a week ago.

as to 06YiKJ, if you aren't already familiar with homebrew. Chances are you are not going to use much of it when you do get a CFW on your psp. But to answer your question CFW 4.01 m33-2 is pretty good when it comes to running homebrew. I can't think of anything homebrew that doesn't run on a psp with 4.01 M33-2 CFW.
Okay so Homebrew Thrived at the 1.5 firmware, and now there is a 1.5 kernel add-on which is software you can install onto a PSP FAT psp with almost any CFW. From that it pretty much emulates the 1.5 firmware allowing the PSP to play homebrew.
But a slim psp or psp 2001 or new lighter psp's do not support that 1.5 kernel add-on, so in order to run homebrew on a slim, you need a loader to emulate the 1.5 firmware. One of these loaders happens to be called popsloader
alrite thanx! I heard many of the Slim units being sold today are still TA-088 v2. And You might never be able to use Pandora on a TA-088 v3. How do i find out if mine is v3 or v2???
yeah it has something written on it.... does that mean its v2 and i can downgrade it??? also mine its version 3.9, do i have to downgrade it to 1.5 or can i go straight to 4.01 M33-2????
