Thats interesting, but also no chance in hell it has anything to do with the Olympics. i think this move came from above, hopefully this well flood the market driving down the cost of blank blue-ray media.

and with cheaper blank blue-ray media one could hope it will alleviate the argument that "blue ray is useless the blur-ray media is too expensive" at Afterdawn.com

We can hope right?

true, one can hope, but i can only imagine...hardcore hd-dvd clingers will never stop bashing blu-ray...well maybe once blu-ray meets the same outcome that is soon to come of dvd...and its predecessor vhs.

Great but even if you increase blu-ray recordable media output the drives are still to expensive for anyone to afford why spend 200.00 for a blu-ray recorder then spend 19.99 per disk for a blu-ray disk i am sorry to say say i can get 100 DVD-R's for 14.99 and a drive for 50.00 if blu-ray cannot make it cheaper not interrested.

In terms of soon i had not meant tomorrow or a month from now, i had meant more like within the next 2-3 years

and to add to your first paragraph, a blu-ray rom drive is only $100...proof, newegg it.

history is merely repeating itself, it is the same situation with blu-ray as it was when dvd first came out, and we can all see how awful dvd has done...

just like the conversion from vhs to dvd...the conversion from dvd to blu-ray has begun
