Hi My boyfriend got me a PSP Years back and now i decided I want to try and Mod it to play emulators. I have no Idea what to do first or if i need anything. I'd prefer not to solder anything for i have no experience with it but anyway I have a Fat black PSP Version 3.90. and if anyone can tell me what to do or an up to date guide would be nice i would really appreciate it. Thanks in Advance

Alright well first of all do any of your friends have a psp that has Custom Firmware on it and if you do have a friend tell him if he can help you cuz he can make the pandora battery along with the memory stick and just do the job for you. If you do not have a friend with these capabillities your going to have to make a pandora battery like this. Well first it depends on which type you have slim or fat so you have fat cuz you got the psp years back so now you have to make a pandora memory stick (you can google it and it has many different ways so you do what best suits you and it has to be the type of way that is done when your psp hasnt been hacked)after your done with that youre going to need a spare battery i repeat a spare battery (you can google this and they got different types of instruction from videos to text) and youre going to have to make a moddification to your spare battery and after you just finish the job and there you go.

Hi, You have the official firmware 3.90. The only way to get custom firmware into your PSP is to use the pandora battery.

To downgrade (and get a custom firmware) or unbrick your PSP, u need the Pandora's Battery. There is three ways to get the Pandora Battery.

1. Find a someone who has a Custom Firmware that is willing to let you borrow their psp. You will use their psp to softmod the battery. Meaning using software to make the Pandora. If you willing to do this, follow this guide:
GUIDE

2. Hardmod the battery. Meaning that you have to open that battery up, and pulling out a pin. Note that if you pull the wrong one, your battery would be messed. If you are willing to do this, follow this guide
GUIDE

3. The most safest way, is to buy a premade pandora battery from the internet (use google or ebay). If so, follow this guide or use the same guide on the second step.
GUIDE

let me make this simple

buy this pandora battery its the cheapest your going to find.
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12472

i bought this one myself and im very happy with it

the pandora battery just makes your psp go into a "repair mode" and files can be read from the memory card that is inside the psp

a magic memory stick is just a normal psp memory card with some files on it

you can follow this guide its kinda confusing but if you read through it a couple of times i think youll get it
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313

the memory card you use should be a 512mb-2gb the memory card should also be name brand such as sony or sandisk other cards dont really work

a 4gb might work but im not sure

what you should do is buy a 4gb for your games and a 512mb to keep as a magic memory stick so if you want to make your psp normal again or if someone accidentally messes up the psp (very unlikely but possible)

this 512mb is 8.95$ and it is very good i bought it myself from here

good luck on your psp modding journey if you have mor questions just re post in this same thread and ill assist you

You can also look at YouTube for some "How To's" videos.
They sometimes come in handy.
But any Official version over 3.50 needs a Pandora battery to get a Custom Firmware version.

look on Youtube to see the Pandora Battery get to work and how it modifies a psp.

***somehow I have a feeling that we are going to be hearing alot from Hailee79 here*** =]~
