my friend has one, and they work, but you will never get hdmi quality out of it, hence the reason for having an hdmi cable. seeing how hdmi is the best i dunno what you are looking for?

the only plus of using vga is for 1080p, which hdmi cannot use. sucks that microsoft won't enable 1080p with hdmi.
ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure
got a whole lot more to list . . .

You gotta smack who ever told you that... because they lied to you. Of course the 360 will display 1080p through HDMI. And the HDMI does look better than the VGA.

i never said vga was better than hdmi.
after doing some research, it's our tv that can't handle 1080p. 42" and only up to 720p. max resolution 1322x768. i knew something was wrong with the tv, when it couldn't display 1280x800 with the laptop connected.

i use the vga cable and love it. my surround sound doesnt have hdmi on it, so vga was about the only way to go. crystal clear picture, no washouts or anything on mine.

That was an issue with a lot of vga cable users. MS issued a fix for that in their last Fall Update.

Ive gone through about 3 vga cables with different results from each, first 2 were nasty and thought it was just my tv got a 3rd one and it looks amazing just as good as hdmi. I burrowed my friends official microsoft one and it looks awesome but they cost a fortune. But on the other hand i had to buy 3 cheap one before i found a decent one, yeah theres a lil bit of luck involved in getting a decent one when you buy cheap ones. So just a word of warning.

I say we do this, everyone one with a good digital camera take a picture of your screen with the hdmi or vga that way we can lay this to rest. I got vga (look like the one in the picture) with an off brand cord and my screen looks great.

There's too many variables. Everyone has differnet tvs, sizes, color/contrast settings,... it goes on and on. No one is saying the vga cable (MS) is junk. I used an official MS vga cable on my tv, set at 1920x1080, for quite awhile. Then when I picked up an Elite and used the HDMI, I noticed the difference right away. For me, on a 52" Samsung plasma, the HDMI is better.

i would have to say with plasmas you can notice the difference going from vga to hdmi, but on a LCD you cant if you are using a decent vga cable. Honestly good vga cable on LCD looks as good as plasma with hdmi

Hey, Dude2099, the cheap one you reference to are they from Ebay, the one they sell for $10 buck? I try to buy one but my spider sense keep tinkering me to hold off. The OEM one from M$ is toooooo expensive, $40 bucks!!!! And I refuse to gave Gates any more retire money.

vga is an analog signal and hdmi is a digital signal. I don't know about you all but in theory, I think digital is always better than analog. Now if you have a DVI connector on the lcd screen then that is a digital connection and I heard that this is comporable to hdmi. I am going to connect my 360 to a 22" lcd pc screen via hdmi to dvi convertor. Hopefully I won't notice any difference as it was connected to my 65" TV via hdmi.

Most average users will notice very little difference between the VGA picture and the HDMI picture.
Your picture is also only as good as the resolution of the game your playing. I have used both and on my TV (56" DLP) the HDMI is a little better, but not enough to make you jump around screaming WOW!!!
