Hey everyone,
I believe this is a problem. I just started the WII backup
process. I'm running XP in the USA. I have raw dump 2.0 & two LG 8164B
drives. I'm running them externally. my WII has the wiikey chip. I backed up WII sports no problem played fine. now trying to dump both (Brunswick Bowling & AMF Pinbusters & MLB 2K8) about a 3rd of the way through, raw dump slows way down to about 400 or so mb per hr. when it first starts dumping it goes like hell 1500mb per hr. then the slow down to a crawl about 10 min into it. I stop it instead of letting it continue to barely download with like 14 hr remaining showing on the time. is this normal? thx any advise would be kindly appreciated.
JMHO, I only run Rawdump in safe mode. This ensures that there Is no interference from any background apps. Yes, it is slower, but I am 60/60 in successful backups on the first try.
I suspect your performance issues are due to a background process running.
interesting, thats the first I ever heard about running in safe mode.
is that the standard? cause i turned off the trend micro anti virus & checked there's nothing running in the back ground. I'll give it a try right now. understand though I just finished dumping the WII Sports with no slow down or any problem only those 3 games I mentioned so far. I'm going to reboot & try it in safe mode. I also have another computer to try, BRB
I am also having this problem. I have an 8161b that was working great. I did a fresh install of XP, now rwdump slows to a crawl after just a few minutes. I am running XP Pro with .net 3.5. This is the same setup I had before the re-intall of the OS. uninstalled and re-installed .net 2.0, then 3.5, no dice. Any ideas what's going on?

It's not "the standard", it's just what works for me consistently. I have a pretty "beefy" system (Phenom 9650 with 4GB RAM) but anytime I want programs to have exclusive access to a resource, I run in safe mode.
You may not have any apps running in the background but you may have application processes that access the disk and/or DVD-ROM drive. I have found that RawDump is very sensitive to being interrupted.
I too am having slowing issues with Rawdump 2.0. I just put together a new system, 2.5 GHz AMD w/dual core, 4GB ram, and 750GB SATA HDD. The new system is the one I'm having slowing problems with. It starts at over 1800MB/hour. After a few minutes, it will slow down to 1000MB/hour and below.
The old system, 2.4GHz P4 w/ 768MB ram and a 160GB EIDE HHD, works great. It will only slow down to a little over 1600MB/hour. I'm taking the older system to work and won't have easy access to back up disks. Therefore, I want to use the new system.
Both systems are running XP Pro.
Both systems have an 8164B DVD drive.
The new system has a fresh install with very few other programs installed on it yet, so very little running in the background.
The only thing I know for sure is that it isn't the DVD drive because I have two 8164B's doing the same thing. The old system works fine. The new system is slow.
The problem appears to be a hardware issue with the new systems processing speed, processor, motherboard, or SATA HDD.
I'm going to try an external EIDE HDD with Rawdump and see if there are any slowing issues.
