The serial number on my Wii is LU58667174 8. This is a new unit I purchased over 2 weeks ago. I need to know if the "D2Pro9 V3 Modchip" will work with this serial number.

I understand it could be either the "D2C" chip or "GC2".
It also says this:

"There is a 50% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2C"
and
"There is a 50% chance that the pins on your drive chip are not cut".

Will the "D2Pro9 V3 Modchip" work on either chip? Or is there a better one that is a surer bet?
And "drive pins are not cut". Good or Bad?
Thx

Jalabar

The D2Pro website says D2Pro V3 is compatible with all drive boards. However there have been reports from other D2C/D2C2 users that claim the D2Pro V3 does not work with there drive.

Your best bet is to open the Wii and check the drive board. If it says D2C then get a D2Pro V2 if it says D2E then get a D2Pro V3.

Is there a decent website that shows how to take the Wii apart step by step, with good close up pictures, and shows exactly where to look on the drive board to see your chipset?

HERE is the guide I used.

You can find what chipset you have by looking at the chipset on the back of the Wii drive (look at image below)...

If it says D2C get D2Pro9 V2.

If it says D2E get D2Pro9 V3.
