need help with manually updating xbox 360 dashboard!!

hi, since my xbox 360 is banned from xbox lives, i have no way of updating my dashboard. i found out that you can update your dashboard manually by burning some files into a cd or dvd disc. when i tried to download the 2007 fall update and burned it on a cd and when i inserted it in my xbox 360 dvd drive, it says mixed drive and could not be read. can someone tell me what did i do wrong or was I supposed to burn it on a dvd drive instead? help please..

The easiest way would be to get a buddies hdd (who is updated) and attach it to your 360. His hdd will update your dash.

how do i check if i have the latest dashboard on my xbox 360. where do i go to check it up and what version will be the latest dashboard.

are there websites out there that you can download additional updates for the dashboard and burn it on a dvd and just pop it in the xbox 360 dvd drive?

In the dashboard, go to System --> Console Steeings --> System Info. You don't have to click on the System Info... just scroll down to it. When you do, it'll show you which dashboard you have. The latest dashboard is 2.0.6717.0. If you do click on the System Info, then the dash will be the "K:" value.

my dashboard is version 2.0.6690.0

the thing is that i dont have any friends that own xbox 360. are there websites that i can download dashboard updates from and then perform the updates on my xbox 360?

I got my update from Xbox.com, just search for Fall 2007 Update. Burned it with Nero as a Data disc.
