I am very new to PSP. I have ordered a brand new un-moded PSP Slim. I have spent an incredible amount of time reading every walkthrough / tutorial I can about the easiest way to mod this thing. Here is my plan, please let me know if there are glaring errors in it ::

Note I have no existing PSP nor access to a hacked one.

I will purchase a PSP Battery Service Tool. ( http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/PSP-B...__EF000530.aspx ) I believe this will allow me to go back and fourth from pandora to non-pandora on the existing PSP slim battery (the one that comes with the unit). I am buying this tool cause I have heard that DATEL pandora batteries will not work with PSP grader. I would like to use PSP grader as it seems very easy to use.

I am purchasing a USB Type-A to Mini-B cable to allow computer access.

I will purchase a 2gig MS Pro Duo card to use when loading the custom firmware. My only concern is that some of the guides say you need custom firmware already on the PSP to load their software. I am hoping that with PSP grader and the USB cable I will be able to setup the memory stick even though my PSP Slim will come with the default factory firmware.

Is this all I need ?? The service tool, USB cable, and memory stick... have I left anything out ? should I go a different route?

Where did you heard about the DATEL not working on the PSPgrader. All pandora batteries are the same. It is only the memory stick that is different.

You make the magic ms with your computer, not with your psp. Best to follow this guide

Hi thanks for the response I appreciate any feedback !

I heard of Datel not working with PSP Grader from Klutsh on the PSP grader forum. Link: http://www.x-projects.org/index.php?topic=66.0

I know the magic stick is made through my computer but isn't the memory card accessed by hooking the PSP Slim up to my computer via the USB cable ? I was just concerned that having the native firmware on the PSP would be a problem when attaching it to my computer and trying to setup the stick. I don't have a card reader on my computer.

I will definitely be following some guides but just wanted to make sure i've got the right things to order !! thanks again

Well ... I know the guide I gave works for DATEL ... Strange that PSPgrader doesn't work

This is how it works,

1. You make the magic ms
2. You make the pandora battery (or buy it)
3. You plug in the battery and the magic ms
4. A menu pops up

No USB required unless your are transferring pandora related files

EDIT: Change you thread title to more descriptive like "Questions on Custom Firmware"
