ok i have a matshita dvd writter and it will read cd-r and dvd-rw but not any of my dvd-rs. can someone help me?

Your writer is trying to tell you to go shopping and feed it a high class meal.

In other words, it sounds like a media issue. Work with Name Brands, ie. Ritek or Verbatim are excellent choices.
