Uh, yeah... it's been a long time since I last played a PS1 game on a console, so I've sort of lost touch of the basics of working with it.

Just a couple basic questions:

1. Will a PS3 play PS1 backups? (I'm guessing the answer is no, unless you use the Swap Switch trick.)

2. Is it possible to store (and execute) PS1 images on the PS3 hard drive? (Again, also expecting a "No.")

3. Which cheat devices, if any, would you suggest to use with the PS3 in regards to PS1 games?

4. Is there a way to... "emulate" a cheat device? I've gotten too used to running my PS1 backups off my PC, so I've just gotten used to running the cheats off of it, too.

Anyway, thanks for any help.

1. Swap Magic only works with the PS2, I thought. Because you either have to have the flip top or that swap tool thing, and neither of those work on a PS3. You can do that whole slicing a hole into the top, but that's just moronic, I think. And since there's no tray to use the tool on, that's out, too. (Unless I haven't looked hard enough.)

2. Thanks.

3. Also thanks.

4. I'm not looking to install a whole other OS (though I probably should, and upgrade my hard drive while I'm at it), just like a "cheat program" or so. But that's no matter. Thanks again.

Okay, uh, new question (because I hate starting new threads... despite me having ten within the first two pages) regarding SCIV.

Does anyone here play SCIV online? If so, what type of connection do you use? I've got my PS3 connected to the internet wirelessly, and I'm wondering if using an ethernet cable would help with the (horrendously annoying) lag that I experienced online.

The lag isn't exactly LAG, per se - it's more like... sluggish... like a snail on opium... so I can't punch in combinations like I'd like - but it's frustrating enough that it's cost me five straight losses.

Shut up - I might not be good at the game, but I know I should've won at least two of those five.

Anyway, I don't have a spare Ethernet cable with me, and the one I've got on the computer isn't long enough to reach the PS3. So any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

...maybe SCIV just sucks online.

Getting good connections online is like the dark arts. It can be numerous things.

-Yes a direct connection is always going to be better than a wired connection so it can help. But it could also be:
-you have slow internet
-bad nat type
-bad connection
-server is too far away
-you are not the host, or your connection cannot maintain enough bandwidth to upload as a host. etc.

Try playing with someone who lives (location) as close to you as possible and see if it makes a difference.
