Overheating iPod Nano models cause fires in Japan

article published on 19 August, 2008

Japan's trade ministry has issued a warning on Tuesday that three fires have been linked to overheating iPod Nano units from Apple Inc., possibly due to a battery defect. this is the reason why Apple should start thinking about having removable batteries for ipod, iphone, itouch and whatever they have out now. Is quite annoying really.

apple most likely will fix bad batterys but if you consider these reports are from japan and we don't have all the information.

Like..

1. was the ipod pluged into a third party docking stand???

2. where they using a apple issue charging cable with adapter or a third party.

3. are these real ipods or black market or stolen ipods

Without all of the information we can only guess.

Why would they want to do that when they can charge you ridiculous amounts to replace the battery? Maybe they have something against visible battery covers? They think people like soldering their batteries in because it is fun? People like the inconvenience of paying somebody else to do a simple job that you could do yourself in less time for less money? I think it is more likely because of the fact that Apple is very proprietary, even more so than M$.

I agree with the removable thing, but Apple makes the iPod Touch not the iTouch; that would be a cheap knock off.
