Amazon starts big Blu-ray promotion

Amazon has announced that they have begun yet another large scale Blu-ray disc sale, this time including 83 recent and older releases, all of which are 50 percent off MSRP.
The sale will run through August 29th and includes many types of genres stretching from TV show boxsets to horror collections.

Not on the UK site, and the region coding stops your purchasing many titles from the .com site because of the DRM on the discs that enables the studios to charge different prices region by region and blocking cheaper imports, and with the introduction of the ACTA treaty and blu-ray's SPDC BD+ DRM multi region is truly being blocked and made illegal by the industry, [ripoff]which obviously is in the interest of the customers!!!!!!!!![/ripoff]
until we are treated fair and the hardware is not used as a global price rip off tool i will never purchase this trash unlike the sheep who look on in awe to glitzy advertising. blu-ray is an assault on our freedoms by destroying choice and free will.

if you look at the prices of the reductions you can still see that the dvd's are far less, more than half price of the reduced blu-rays still, pointless so lets hope ppl vote with their wallet and refuse to spend £25 for an old film they already own that costs £4 on dvd.

from a price point of view, they could be giving the blu-ray players away and i still wouldn't have one until the media is reduced to that of current DVD's, around £2 - £7.

Yes, I'm sure we're all grateful (at least I hope so) for the many tip-offs like this AD gives us. The only real quarrel is with how this particular format's being handled by the industry.
CBS/Paramount's really dogging it, aren't they? None of those titles look like their offerings, even though they say they've finally switched. Talk about sore losers.

How stupid, why can't they just put all the pirate movies into one set? Nice, clean, simple.
And the same as before the vendor and used prices listed directly below their own prices are cheaper and alot of them are new.

Paramount can kiss my butt. They are however putting $10 rebates in a lot of Blu-ray movies now. You can get their Blu on sale and with the rebate it is cheaper than the DVD.

Haha. If you worked half as hard at circumventing the restrictions you hate so much as you do complaining every time you read the word "Blu-Ray" you might have ironically hurt the format more than your angstie whimpering has "Failed" to do so far. Let me know how the boycott workes out.

why should you, and for starters the media companies have forced these restrictions onto us all, to enable them to force you to only purchase the media from your region thus enabling them to price fix. btw you do realise that thanks to the MPAA/RIAA circumventing DRM is illegal and if your house is ever searched by police you have committed a crime all so they can dictate prices to us all.

According to bluraystats.com 66.88% of all Bluray releases are region free.
Which titles are region-free?

they are trying to get ppl to adopt the format so they will be open for the moment but as soon as they have the magority of the consumer base then the locks are turned on, just as is happening with the broadcast flag and the image Constraint Token.
the riaa and mpaa companies have lobbied for every law to allow them to lock up content tighter than a ducks ... and are pushing for the criminalisation of multi region via the ACTA treaty.

Amazing how a thread about a Blu-Ray promotion ends up being about something else all the time...never just about the topic. And it's usually the same 2 or 3 that post in every single one....and it looks like someones true identity has just been confirmed.
