Hi
Could anyone enlighten us noobs as to which Mem sticks are preferable, useful, useless or potentially damaging?
Of course the Sony Pro Duo sticks are obviously 1st choice and I'm guessing Sandisk are preferable too.
However, what would indicate whether others are useful for modded PSPs? For example; I have a Magicgate 1GB installed which the PSP says is [b]"supported". However, Im having no joy attempting to load torrentpsp format applications so far and I'm starting to suspect Mem Stick compatability, even tho music transfers easily. I've allowed plenty of space for the files, but can still only achieve "Corrupt data" at best. 3.90 M33-3 firmware BTW.
Any help?
Thanks for your reply
Homebrew currently being attempted are games and movies.
PSP is Phat
I dont know enough about Homebrew to recognise what kernel base its using, but would like to know, if it's relevant.
Files already in place on the PSP are: ISO, ISOMISC,ISOSPLIT,MPROOT,MUSIC and PSP PSP has sub folders of :APP,COMMON,GAME,RADIOPLAYER, SAVEDATA,SYSTEM and THEME
Example of attempted game file is:IRON Man[MULTI3][PSP]which is the torrent file containing approx 21 compressed files. Decompression of any of these identical files produces:PSP GAME folder(containing SISDIR folder, USRDIR, ICONO and PARAM, SFO) the first two containing a multitude of subfolders)
I cant find any indication as to whether theyre ISO/CSO
Tve tried copy and paste to both ISO Folder on Mem stick and PSP>GAME folder without any joy.
I hope this is the info you require but please direct me further if I've missed something.
I really appreciate your help
Now go to OPTIONS then SETTINGS in the drop down menu.
When the Settings window comes up click on the INTEGRATION tab.
Untick the box for ISO under the "Associate WinRAR with".
Now click OK.
Now all files that are an ISO will no longer be associated with WinRAR and you will not be tempted to extract the ISO (you need to keep the ISO as is).
Now go to the torrent. If there is multiple RAR files in the torrent you only need to choose the first RAR file and it will auto extract the rest making 1 full ISO file.
You should also rename the ISO file to whatever the game is (Example: IronMan.iso).
Now place the ISO in the ISO folder on the PSP. So the directory would be ms0://ISO/IronMan.iso
That worked great!
Thanks Larrylje.
Getting back to the original question tho, If the memory stick says "supported", does that signify that it's good for the job?
I've seen a lot of forum talk qustioning the validity of some Mem sticks for use. What about these smaller (physical size) mem sticks with an adapter sleeve I see for sale on ebay etc. Any good?
I have never used adapters myself so I have no idea how reliable they are. There are to many fake memory Sticks floating around online so its best to stay away from buying them online and buy from retail stores.
