Hi, I was wondering if anyone had an success or heard or anyone having success flashing a drive with a PCMCIA card if it has the correct chipset VIA VT6421.
I've been trying to flash using iprep it finds the card ok when running it in windows crating the files and I can copy the files to the c:. Made a dos boot disk then found the files created by iprep ran autoexec, then try to run the dSam XXXXX XXXX process but my system never finds my SATA in the list it displays (xbox is on and connected).
I haven't got USB boot option and no A: so CD is the only way really, I've tried turning the laptop and xbox on at same time as I've read this can help, but hasn't unfortunately. Should I turn on the xbox box when I run the autoexec command as this happens some time after the cd has booted and if using USB it would happen a lot quicker if that make sense.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong or are there any tips anyone could give or any other programms I could use, I looked at DOSflash but got a but lost with that. Please remember I'm using a PCMCIA card.

I've also read about needing to partiton if using the CD boot method if the harddrive is over 32GB would that maybe cause this problem?
I managed to flash the drive in Windows XP and not DOS using dosflash32. I found a guide someone had written. Involved using the 0800 disk once that had been used when I booted up windows, windows tried to install a new drive, didn't run thought that process but it made the drive visible in windows and after that was a very easy to do.
It took longer to find a solution that to flash the drive, 2 days to find a solution and only 2 mins to flash the drive.
If anyone's interested I can post a thread with the link to the guide. I'm not trying to take credit for the guide, I didn't write it but it solved my problem and there seems to be very little guidance on using PCMCIA cards and laptops, but as PS2Menace said works like a charm (when you know how).
The guide was for a Samsung drive as well don't know if it will work for all drives but from what I've read the Samsung was the one that was hard to get to work in Windows.
