Hey, I wanted to see If I can get a mod chip So I can play games off a burnt cd or DVD however it works, and I dont want to be banned off xbox live. i know you cant play live with the burnt cds and the chip, but can they detect this chip on my Xbox and permanetly ban me even if i stay off live or even if I unplug the ethernet cable. i still would like to play the actual games that I have like call of duty online. So how can I do this, or can i not. Is there maybe something I can put in and disconnect every time I want to play a game, then disconnect it when i want to go online. Thanks to anyone who can help!!!

once you connect that box you are a target and could be banned at any time no matter what you are doing. so if you dont want to loose xbl access dont do it. my suggestion would be mod one and buy another for retail games only.

lol, buying two xbox and use one for retailer. i think it's a waste of money. there is a new firmware update that prevent xbox 360 players from getting banned. this has been out a while ago.

if you mod your 360 wether your playing an original or backup online there is always a possability you will get banned.... the xbox is meant to log every game youve put in (from what ive read) so wether youve modded ur drive or using a mod chip if you have a modded box there then it is possible you will egt banned. The only real way to get round this (at present) is like everyone says have to xboxes. i ve only got the one modded one though i didnt really use live alot so mines not even hooked up to the net. Its all down to personal preference, if you want live without any possability of a ban... then dont mod at all, if your not bothered about live then moddin is the way forward, if you want both and have enough money for a second console.. then mod one and keep it offline and use the stock for live.

You will hear a lot of people saying you dont get banned off live etc... it is possible, ok the chances might be slim but MS do seem to have these random waves were they just ban loads of people at once... not only that you dont get banned stright away.. from what ive heard you just get flagged every time so if you get caught a certain number of times then you get banned. persoanlly i dont want to take that chance.. i just system link games with friends instead lol... when afull stealth mod is avaliable thats when il be back online lol

hope this helps :)

Homesick is right from everything I've read. We don't know how MS detects backups so no one can say for 100% if backups are safe online even if you have ixtreme 1.4 and stealth backups. I mean there were previous firmwares that were supposed to be stealth and people got banned and new firmwares came out based on what they thought MS was checking. It's a risk you take unless you do like Homesick said and have two systems one stock for online and one for backups offline.

In my opinion buying a broken 360, repairing and modding it isn't that expensive. I wouldn't go buy two retail systems that's for sure.

XBOX Halo Ed. = DuoX2 w/250gb HD
Xbox 360 Red Elite 120GB HDD = no-stealth 1.6 & XBReboot V3 & 1TB usb hdd
PS2 Slim = freemcboot v1.8 - PSP Black Slim = 5.00m33-6
Wii = w/ Blue XCM ii-case, Wiikey2 & softmodded

im not trying to bash you john dont take it the wrong way, but we all work as a group to save people time and money so we dont want a bad name by telling people the wrong things. just try to make sure you know the subject inside and out, and if you dont just say im not 100% sure. i do all the time, or i just dont post. thanks to everyone who chipped in, and ddp i agree to an extent, but typically the senior's & up have a better understanding. but you are right i have seen noobs come and go that have done and said things even i learned from. so bottem line as far as Xbox Live goes. there is no 100% safe & tested way to not get banned. i have been online on a modded box for over half a year, but i know that my days online could end tomorow. thats why i have a backup if/when that event were to happen.
