You don't hear too much about HD DVD nowadays, but it appears Paramount has not completely forgotten about their HD roots. Awesome, I am glad they are applying this to HD DVD owners as well.

I am not sure how many HD DVD owners would want to re-buy the disks on Blu after dropping money on the HD DVD of the same movie but having this rebate could get you an extremely close, if not completely, free Blu disk if bought at on a sale or promotional offer.

The only other thing I would like to see done is having this "offer" applied to all HD DVDs released on Blu so those that choose to re-buy their collection on Blu may do so.

This is what the media industry should do to keep customers, every time they do a new medium for the masses hand out rebates, why? becuse this aids the new medium in many ways.

What nonsense. I have two HD-DVD players that were each under $100 to buy. They both work great and play both my DVD and HD-DVD movies great. Why would I ever want to upgrade them to BluRay? The BluRay format will die before my Toshiba HD-DVD players die.
