Hi guys,
I have a quick query that I'm hoping someone out there can help me out with. This has always been a great forum when I've needed help in the past with quick replies. I think I've worn out google search button but still cant find an answer here or anywhere else.

I have a Wii with a modchip (d2pro) installed and have recently installed the Homebrew channel with the Mplayer app to play dvd's.

I've got it working fine but at the moment it doesnt seem to play Dual layer dvd's completely. Once the DVD reaches the end of the first layer it just freezes and i need to do a hard reboot to get out of it (hold the power button till it switches off). Other than that it plays single layer dvd's and divx/xvid movies fine.
I dont have a dvd player in my bedroom and have a massive DVD collection of original dvd's which most of are dual layer. I dont think there are many single layer original movie discs.

I am wondering if the reason behind this is a hardware or software issue? I find it hard to believe nintendo used a dvd drive that only plays Single layer discs.

If this is a software issue, does anyone know of any fixes or other homebrew apps I can use to watch my original dual layer dvd's?

Any light or info that anyone can shed on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Its most likely a software issue since smash bros is a DL game. You're much better off though buying a $30 DVD player. You'll save money in the long run because you're going to burn out the wii's drive playing DVD movies on it.
