I understand that a pandora battery and magic stick is needed. i understand how to make one but the tutorials say that custom firmware is needed to do so. i have the red psp. it is the god of war red version with 4.05 firmware. what i want to do is play iso games. the tutorials on youtube that help you downgrade your psp from 4.05 are very hard to understand. is it possible to do this at this time with the version of firmware?

I think you can.. follow one of the pandora guides.. and it will do the trick!

Pandora Makes it all possible... look for my thread.. tell me if it worked 4 u.. I used something else (written in Hebrew... makes it 3.90 CFW.. word like magic on the slim one..)

what im reading is that this version of firmware (4.05) makes it so that you u can not use the pandora battery. a lot of people are writing comments about problems they have had while downgrading their firmware. right now i do not want to experiment my self with it. i want to know someone who has actually done it with this firmware. i think the slim came with firmware 4.0 or 4.01 those seem to not have a problem with having cfw installed on them

well you can try the various pandora/MMS tutorials available but i'm sorry to say you are most likely up the creek at the moment.

a PSP coming with OFW 4.05 is more than likely a TA-088 v3 motherboard which is currently unhackable ... Dark Alex will have to figure out a way to pull it off before you can install CFW.

if you purchase a pandora battery or a service mode tool there is no risk in trying it ... when you put the pandora battery/MMS in it simply won't work ... it won't actually do anything cause the new CPU won't let the hacked firmware load off the stick.

You might be screwed..

you might not be screwed..

I bought the PSP slim white battle front eddition.
with ver. OFW 3.5 on itor 3.51...w/e

I upped to 3.75>4.01>4.05 then decided i wanted CFW..

thought it was impossable to downgrade after searching for weeks.
i pandorad my slim batt my self
and searched for CFW tutorials. i even used the tut from this site..

(it didnt work on my psp though)
i used the noobie installer it didnt work.

i found this one: NextGen_MMS_v08.11.08
GOOGLE IT

thats the one that worked on my psp OFW 4.05
and got me to 4.01m33-2.

NOW if your GOW psp came with 4.05 your possibly screwed because the mother board in your psp will not pick up a pandora'd battery. so you wont be able to downgrade.

i guess the only way to find out is to try. so go out buy a tool battery, or (i dont suggest this)buy s second battery and create one. put it in your psp and see if it works.

thats realy all you can do buddy.
i hope this helps.

you might be right. I hear that when update from another version of firmware up to 4.05 you can downgrade. i have read that somewhere in the motherboard is where the problem is. so i guess i am screwed because my firmware is OFW 4.05. by the way do you know if only a 2gig memory stick can be turned into a magic one? because i have a four gig one.

i used a 512mb stick when i CFW'd mine... i've heard 4 gig isn't the best for it but you might as well try...

as far as your motherboard revision goes you should check out Dark Alex's blog and the comments people leave cause thats where i learned a lot about the new 88 v3 and how its uncrackable (at present)...

Hi eliteway, just to let you know that I was able to downgrade my PSP FAT OFC 4.05 to a CFW 3.90 M33-3. I followed the excellent guide provided in this forum (Thanks !!).
I bought a TOOL Pandora battery and used a 2Gig Sony Memory Stick to create my MMS. You should be able to do it too. The hard stuff for you is to find a TOOL Pandora battery (check the stores on the net). Good luck!

no. the point of which batteryes is to bring the psp into service mode.. and when service mode inabled with the program on the memmory stick, inseted in the psp. that will run the program auto.

thats how the firmware is installed.

inshort there the same thing..but if you pandora your battery and then restore it..try not to pandora it again, as doing so too many times could fry the battery.
