Okay, I'll just ask here. I really need to flash my 360, its a samsung ms28 drive, I have no usb stick, Or floppy drive. I have a dvd burner :).

I followed the textbook pdf for "dummies" or whatever. And the ntfs for dos is old. The links that are given lead to new firmware wich only allows me to make a bootable usb.

How do i go about making a bootable cd to flash my 360? Please help, I just bought the via sata chipset for "nothing" if i cant get this to work :/. thanks.

Hey man I was in the same boat as you when I started.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/651372

My pc didn't support booting from a usb drive and I didn't have a floppy drive built into my pc.

Members on here suggested that try to use a usb floppy drive. So I went and found one and bought a pack of brand new floppy disks and it's worked great so far on every dvd drive I've flashed that uses iprep.

Good luck.

Do you have a local pc store?
The one I found mine at was called Intrex Computers.
It was 20 bucks but I was impatient and wanted it right then so I'm sure you could find a better deal but I would assume anywhere that builds and repairs pc's would sell them.

I'd make sure you have that connection on your motherboard then. I didn't have the connection for a cheaper internal floppy on mine so I had to return it and get the usb version.

No offense but if you have IDE interface on your motherboard for a harddrive it would be cheaper to get a small harddrive instead of the floppy drive. My PC isn't setup to boot from USB and I don't like it.I use the CD boot option instead that is why I use ntfs4dos instead of the usb method. What I do is put ntfs4dos on disc, and boot it up then dump/flash my firmware from a small harddrive.Just a suggestion though if use this method the partition can't exceed 30GB,so when you format it create a partition maybe 20GB or so.The floppy drive isn't needed at all if your PC can boot from disc.

That's a good idea I would have never thought of that. I always thought you had to create a partition on your existing hdd.

Yeah I can see where you guys are coming from though with iPrep it took me awhile to figure out the 30GB partition limit when I started messing with it.You can create a partition on your main harddrive as well, but I prefer using an additional small harddrive and hook it up as a secondary for iPrep. After I finish dumping/flashing the firmware I just unhook the harddrive and hook up my actual secondary drive(Terabyte).I dedicated the small harddrive I have for flashing Xbox 360 systems because I'm constantly helping out friends or someone that needs help. They are pretty cheap now and if you want after your done you can store it somewhere safe that way it will keep your orig.bin safe if your messing with one Xbox 360 system.I always recommend storing the orig.bin in multiple places incase something happens such as sending it to yourself through email, put it on a pendrive, store it on a harddrive etc...Just to be on the safe side incase you lose it there will always be another place to look for it.

Okay so i figured out that how to boot nfts4dos, and i put iprep in the main harddrive C directory, I folow the guide to the letter. i hook up 360 sata drive, and then i type dsam and my serial, and it only reads my IDE hard drive (main hard drive) not the 360 dvd drive. Could this be because my main drive is bigger then 30 gigs? or whats going on? xD. Lemme know my options :P. I used the new version of IPREP 0.6.2 BETA. and samsung 1.4 firmare.

If your main harddrive is more than 30GB then it won't work, you have to create a partition atleast 30GB or less in order for it to work.If you see more than 30GB for disc space on your harddrive then this is the problem.iPrep doesn't allow more than 30GB so what you need to do is create a partition on your C:\ drive atleast 30GB or less if you want to use the ntfs4dos method from disc. The best thing you can do in my opinion is get a small cheap harddrive 20GB or something small then create a partition on it in NTFS format. Then run it through iPrep to set it up,and pop in the ntfs4dos disc dump/flash firmware etc...Also make sure your path is set up properly when messing with ntfs4dos.

Ugh. okay so i bough a flashdrive instead of dealing with crap.. Now i stuck it in i went through the steps :). and sadly, when i boot from it i just get "j_" on a dos screen. cant push anything (Used iprep on the flashdrive) it just freezes there. re-did it a couple times, and even changed the slot of the usb, nothing happens... What a hassle, lol. anyhelp?

I assume the j is my flashdrive letter :P.
