Can the Lite-On drives be flashed by hacked firmware now?
If I use a modchip instead of flashing my DVD Drive, would it enable me to play my backup games?

Just what I have read no there isnt a way to mod these yet I brought this thread back to life hoping some one could help me with my problem but nothing yet, I have been on LLamma, and scenix and nothing so I believe we are both kinda screwed.

Actually what I have read. The problem is not writing to the chip, but getting the older firmware (whole) from it. As for now hacking the liteon seems hard, but I think that they're able to manage it in time. When, no one knows.

There won't be a hacked firmware for the Liteon with this technique, only a spoofing method. The reason why is because you can't flash the Liteon drives it has a read only rom on it.So if your replacing with a Benq or Samsung you need to use the hacked firmware for a Benq or Samsung not the Liteon and spoof it as a Liteon.Just my two cents it wouldn't make sense to create a firmware for the Liteon as you can't write back to it.The only thing needed is the dvdkey as mentioned, spoofing string, and the hacked firmware for whatever drive you replace it with. the liteon drives can be flashed its dumping the original firmware from the liteon thats preventing them being flashed with a hacked firmware as it is unreadable at the moment, forget spoofing be patient the end is near for liteon.

the rom is not read only its probably more the opposite as it cannot be read at the moment witch is preventing the original firmware being dumped, once the original firware has been dumped it can then be hacked and flashed back to the drive, it has been said once everything is 100% complete the liteon will be easier to flash than the benq.

from my understanding from the kings of the scene there will be a release in the near future and being just as easy as a benq the hardest part also my understanding is the making your own hook up gear.

Okay - back to back posts - when one replies to their own message.
The 3 posts above my last post were all started by you. If yours is the last post in the thread then edit instead of replying again.

Your link shows the method to spoof the LiteOn drive, in other words you will take the key from the original drive (LiteOn) and include in another hackeable driver (Samsung, BenQ or Hitachi)

yes but you still may need that for the final touches in the flashing ?? you still have to take key out and put f/w in etc,etc ..am i correct?...please correct me if i am wrong.

Yes,you are correct, the only good thing about the connectivity kit v3 is to make the life easier to spoof a lite on drive or change any other drive, you can use this product for all drivers available (accordingly with the manufacturer). I think this product is good only if you have many consoles to use it or your area do not have anybody who can do this job for you (you should save some money), otherwise to pay 75 bucks for this kit I guess is too high. And for LiteOn you still have to spend to purchase another drive rather than LiteOn

this may not be the case for everyone here, but where i am people are now actually hanging onto their lite-on drives as we are lead to belive F/W is not to far off.
i can't at this stage provide any links as to why we want to hold onto our drives as it's only a discussion between us at the moment and from technical data about the newer boards and drives.i have a lite-on system and also have an elite the lite-on system runs a lot cooler than the elite so once again i am only assuming that this is M$ fix for the RROD and with the lite -on drive for hacking

Hi,
I am new here. First - I think it is really wired, that it was a public secret, that liteon was ROM.
2nd - I am about to buy a 360 Xtractor Add-on: Spear. I just would like to get confirmed that I with that device can take a copy of the code on the liteon drive and afterwards upload the new hacked code(with normal sata connected to my pc - my motherboard is supporting it).
Than also these connectivity kits should not necessary as I understand ? - is that right?
