Ok i am clear on how to install the Homebrew channel etc but what i am not clear on is what homebrew this can run... is it just elf files off of the memory card? or backed up games on the memory card? or games on dvd-r/+r disks?

any extra info would be appreciated

There are a lot of things that homebrew can do. I suggest downloading and installing the Homebrew Browser for easy homebrew installation.

you can always rent twilight princess; just make sure it's the right version. For now, you can't play backup games through the homebrew channel (only w/mod chip). There are interesting things you can do (play dvds, run emulators, http server hosting) , and lots of possibilites. The homebrew channel is still pretty new, so hopefully soon we will be able to play backups via dvdr or through usb hdd.

Is there a way to edit the title of this thread and/or add to one of my posts?

Ok forget the last five points that has no been made clear to me... i didnt think theres any point starting a new thread when i could just "overwrite" this one to save server space and what not...

I have an unmodded ps2 and i am able to play my backups using the ESR patching utility. Can this be used on the wii? (i gather not as it doesnt read dvd Video disks?) Or is there an alternative? Isnt there anything such as a wii alternative to swap magic? Or can we use freeloader somehow? What about a usb hdd?

Im just looking at my options as i dont want to void the warranty... But i will probably get it chipped after its out...

Cheers - Also if you know of a certain way to play backups that i may not have mentioned please, let me know =]

Ive read that if i solder http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/catal...2.html#features to http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/catal...-v5-p-2799.html i can chip my wii without voiding the warranty? so for $60 (0r £30 cos im in the uk) i can get backups working?

Is this true about the warranty etc and is that chip compatible with all wii's except the new D2E chipset?

Any more info you can think of?

cheers

Uh well to install the Wasabi with the WiiClip you will still need to open up your Wii which voids the Warranty...

Yes it works with any Wii before D2E.

Also no to all your questions in your previous post. THE ONLY way to play Wii/GC backups right now on the Wii is to chip it. You can play other region games on your Wii by using homebrew but they have to be retail discs if you don't have your Wii already modded with a chip.

But it says opening the Wii doesnt void the warranty as it doesnt have a security tag... Also if it breaks i could take the chip out and send it back... how would they know it was opened if i put the feet and white tabs back on or bought new ones from divineo?

I guess what they mean is that with the WiiClip it would not leave any marks behind that the Wii is modded. With a typical soldering job there would be quite a mess.

As long as you keep everything clean and do not damage the stickers or case then I guess they would not know that you have opened it.

Ok i cant find a chip that suites all my needs... If anyone knows of a chip that does the following please let me know

100% Solderless once on the wii-clip
Update via DVD (or has a programmer... Link please?)
Universal (Jap/NTSC/PAL All Chipsets)

The only ones i have found is the wasabi v2/3 but they need 1 wire soldering to the wii which i am NOT willing to do... The other being the D2SUN v2.1 / v3 but they need an external programmer which i cannot find
