Help Mario kart not working

I updated my chipped wii yest through the internet. It upgraded it to a version 3.3u. I tested the Mario Kart straight after it was fine. Today I tried to play Mario Kart and twice that I put the disc in a black screen came up and an error reading disc came up. Then we put Mario Olympics in and that worked fine. We have just tried Mario Kart again and it works? Could this have been something to do with the update or am i being paranoid?
