Before you say we have already answers this listen, i am not one of those people who is going to complain if i get banned so you can give me the legit numbers not the "you will get banned in some time weather you like it or not" thing to get people to be safe then sorry, I UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS STUPID TO PLAY ON LIVE IF IT IS YOUR ONLY CONSOLE. After getting that by i wanted to say that i like a lot of people have 2 consoles one is my safe and the other is my backups (because i realized that it is far cheaper to buy a new console for backups then to buy 5 dollar disc covers and protectors). So basically what i am trying to say is that i have 1 console that i am planning of playing until it get banned and i am not going to be surprised or upset when it happens. So i was wondering how long does it usually take to get banned if you are 100% stealth about it. Now i am not going to get mad if you say 10 years and it happens tomorrow i know the risks and i am planning on getting it banned. Anyways thanks for the estiment if you can give one, if not thanks for reading. And please dont bother to tell me that i am the 10th person to ask this and that i will get banned and noting is safe, i know this (and i know someone is going to do this, ill point it out when it happens) but the rest of you are usually really kind and helpful sorry for the long speech.

the next wave of bans may be soon, when the new dashboard update comes out.

it's really unknown when microsoft unleashes the ban hammer.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Thanks for the reply, so the way i see it they come out with a new technology that helps them ban a few more people for an unknown reason with banns a "wave" of people and you never know when the wave is coming? Thanks for the honest help.

Exactly, you just never know. In the past, the banning wave has been with the release of a major game. Like a lot of people thought with GTA IV, it would happen, but it didn't. You're covered because if you get banned, you can play your originals online with your non-modded console.

the chances right now are honestly about 1 to 10, however like stated above when the new dash update comes out we are all preparing for the worst. microsoft has more up their sleave than just copying games to the HD i am sure.

i agree with the above. also i have read that they flag you everytime you run a different backup ( not saying this for certain) ... so maybe if you set off enough flags they also ban you. The problem at the moment is that noone really knows how MS are banning, people are trying to work it out and guess, this will help but that is the reason why no one knows for sure :)

hope this helps

Thanks a lot guys, thats what i was thinking that if you like me and you buy 10 games in 2 years then you get 3 in a week then they might put an eye on you. Anyways thanks

i play almost every game when it comes out, so it dosn't work like that. i think they know, they just boot everyone at once when they feel like it.

It's hit or miss, and luckily im a miss. Been playing since 2006, same console, and never, ever been banned.Even have a wisper max on my console. My friend who modded my console has been on longer then me and hes never been banned. So IMO its keeping up to date with software and playing good burn/stealth games. Yeah hate all you want, toss your angry "YOULL GET CAUGHT EVENTUALLY" but hey I havent yet have I. So Im not worried at all. Yeah I play games before they are released, so I got 2 360's anyway incase someone comes over for some co op madness.

Look at it this way. If you mod your console , your living the life as a pirate (PER SAY), if your riding the wave u must be prepaired for wave that will knock you off your boat. Its the risk u take, and I have had some friends get banned while I havent, and why? Cause they either got games from a bad source(someone who sold em or bad downloads), or didnt update thier firmware accordingly.
IMO the next bans will be due to saving teh game to the hard drive, cause thats the only way u can read the file, and some idiots will get banned and complain accordingly. SO if your riding the wave, ride it proudly, otherwise get off the boat. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and one thing I noticed. I have not read about anyone who just ONE day logged on and was just banned, they had to play the game and find out they were banned. If im wrong on that account, people should take a tally on who they found out they were banned. Looing in a game or logging in the dashbord. That would rule out a bad game or actual MS witch hunt.

Good post tavek. I can see you've been at this a lot longer than most (I've only had a flashed drive for 6 months). The interesting question to me is not when or why they ban, but HOW. Is it an irregularity in the burned disc? Is it an irregularity caused by the burned drive? I would be very interested to have some light shed on this issue as it would undoubtedly help us in remaining unbanned. I have yet to jump in and play games online because I am still under warranty and I don't want to lose that if I get RROD, but I do connect to live on silver account and get game updates, trailers, etc. So I wonder if they can detect/ban me just based on that, I don't know but I would like to know if anyone else has been banned simply for downloading game updates from live. Anyway, tavek is absolutely right we're all riding this wave and so far it seems like many of us have been lucky.

Thnx for respect bro.
Heres one thing I do know as fact for a ban, 2 poeple I know got banned cause they adjusted the DVD drive speed from 12x to 8x, they got banned within a month. One even called MS and MS said they moddified Hardware, claiming hardware cahnge.

If a senior member or moderator can start a new post
"Describe how u got banned" thread, Between 1-I logged onto dashboard and got banned, or 2-played a game and got banned. Then we will see the differance cause I doubt u can play 1 game all year and just get banned, it has to be the game itself not the software. Tell me if im wrong , but a HARDware change is completly diff then a SOFTWARE change. Wipser max fan with 3rd internal fan all on the same pwr circut drawing more pwr then intended, yeah thats a hardware change.

Modding a dvd drive with software, thats a software change. This new dashbord can probubly bust you, but I think MS is leaving the modders alone now, just a hunch since Petter Moor did say something at Madden Polluza that Banning systems is NOT the way to go, even though he reps EA now.

I will wager, more then 80% got banned on the Mass Effect game they all bootleged . Yeah u can argue crackdown but that was before one of the new patchs came out.
Heres my proof, when Mass Effect came out it had ALOT of bad sectors and currupt files, this made me weary to download(like u havent downlaoded a game) and sure enough everyone who got banned wrote on every post, board and scene 1 week after Mass effect was released BUT they never really posted what game they played.

A major pirate to my knowledge had more then 80% of his customer base complain that he got tehm banned, but he even told them, it might happen cause the file was bad and the release was not normal compared to otehr releases. Regardless they had to have it. Luckily few people like myself who did listhen or where in the know cleared his cache before going online.

This raises a few questions for me. First of all, I wonder if that bad Mass Effect iso passed all the XDVDMulleter check marks (if you are familiar with XDVDMulleter you know what I mean). That is normally my cue that an iso is good to be burned. Also, I wanted to ask you (tavek) personally what drive is in your 360? Because if yours is from 2006 I think that is pre-Benq drives, but I'm not sure. I have read from a reliable source that Benq drives are the lease likely to get banned and that is what I have in my 360. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not, but that's another interesting part of the puzzle that should be considered.

To answer your ? I have a samsung on my 06 model and Benq in my 2nd, though I play the samy more cause I modded the metal case for more free air flow. I did not use mulleter, not really a big fan of it, I used Schtrom360Xtract and got real skeptical, also being that they were winrar can repair, some were UN REPAIRABLE that I have NEVER seen before. I kept the file on my eternal hard drive as to compare it with future releases.(i figured why not wont hurt)
MY CONTACT says hes got my copy he made stealth and copied off the actual game and hard drive , since then none of his client tel has been banned. I have yet to pick it up cause im too busy with college n work.

I'm not quoting anymore because it's getting way too long, but this thread had turned more into a back-and-forth between you and I anyway. I wanted to ask if you've done a lot of cleaning/maintenance on your system (the Samsung drive system) to keep it from RROD all this time. I'm hoping my model is past the high-rate RROD generation, but I'm not sure. Also... what is this metal case mod you speak of?

I do a lense cleaning about once a omnth, its getting anoying but it helps. The metal case mod i got from utube and scene. BAscially bought a dremel, and cut out the right side (opositethe hard drive side) I cut out the section of the holes only, and the backside medal grill behind the fands also. This increased air intake and air outtake big time, now my 360 BARELY heats up and also got a laptop cooler ($10) on a holiday sale and tossed that under neath, after playing a few hours i poped it open and touched everything and nothing, not eaven hot, not the cpu or the gpu, totally a big diff.

Thanks for the info. I'm not quite prepared to do a case mod (as there is still *some* chance of being able to send it back for warranty if the need be), but I am curious to know what method you use to clean the lens. Do you just pop open the case then the drive then just take a q-tip and some alcohol to the lens or is there an easier way? It seems like a lot of maintenance, but I hear a lot of lenses go out on drives for 360s.

I was wondering if anybody has been banned because of their hard drive. I wanted to switch my harddrive between 360s. I have game saves from playing backups on it. If I used it on live with an original game could I be banned for this?
