Hi

I just got my first mod wii ever, and I don't really know anything about mods. It's working with SSBB, but not Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. I searched for the chip here, but no there are no posts with d2ekey. The guy said it was the latest, and does quite indeed appear to be so. I need some general advice here. I need some general advice here to get Metroid working, and maybe for future games; Should I instead look for solutions for the previous d2pro 9, or d2c2, like I said, I'm a newb and don't know which ordered these came in. I do apologize for not reading the 31 page faq on wii mods, but really I don't see the point when my search term doesn't even come up.

one solution says re burn the disc, but the software verified it with no problems were mentioned, so I don't want to waste another Taiyo Yuden disk without more information.

It works until I start loading the game. I get Metroid icon in the channel-thing. I got the generic reminder to put the wrist strap on. Then on the black screen it says Metroid Prime corruption is loading... Then it ever so briefly starts loading with a faded teal-shaded cloud appearing. then gets cut off and it gives me a black screen with the error message. The message I get is:

The Game Disc could not be read.
Please read the wee operations
manual for more information.

Do I really need to reburn it?

Thanks.

It does sound like a bad burn to me. MP3 didnt have any copy protection that could cause the problem you're having.

Make sure you burn with imgburn at 4x and use good media (verbatum FTW)

The speed burnt makes a difference? That sounds as strange to me as Santa Clause going to every home on the planet in one night. I did it with 2x. Also I'm under the impression that Taiyo Yudens are best for everything. However I do like having simple things to remember, I just never had any problems [burnt dozens of discs all with lots of AVIs, no read errors]. I have only TY's [they're DVD-R btw]. I am using imgburn that comes with Wiikit, it's properties say v1.0.0.0 date modified: Tuesday, July 17, 2007, 2:49:54 PM. I suppose that's going to be just fine.

Anyways your confident demeanor assures me it's worth another disk. I'm burning now. Actually I've heard the speed matters but the premise seems silly. Every single byte must be burnt, I can't imagine it's skipping some of them... or wait I have that backwards.. I don't understand why faster should be better. I'm confused, very.

Also my Nero 5 or 6 OEM never gave any options to change the dvd speed. but with imgburn there's lots of speed choices.. interestingly the disc is now burning at 4x write speed in imgburn, the time remaining is 28 min the same as it did at 2x. is something screwy here? certainly seems like it

Burning too fast or too slow can result in more errors in the burn. The wii's drive has a very low tolerance for errors so it doesn't take much to make the disk unreadable. Many people, myself included, have had the best luck at 4x.

And don't pay any attention to imgburn's 'time remaining' counter. It really doesn't know what it's talking about.

I got the same error. This one's not working either. It's happening exactly the same as mentioned earlier. I saved the info when imgburn finished if anybody can use it. I don't see any attaching ability here I'll just hang keep it just in case someone asks for it.

If it's not your burn, maybe it's your source. Have you that verified the .iso is good? Have you tried burning a KNOWN GOOD .iso? SSBB is a dual layer disc, so even though you should be able to extrapolate that if you can burn SSBB (which is DL) that you can burn Metroid Prime (which is SL), you can't necessarily do so.

BTW, If you are trying to burn a SL game on a DL disc, I don't believe that anyone has verified whether it works correctly or not.

thanks penguin, I got it working with your help. I was having so much fun I forgot to reply for 3 weeks. A question though.

I also used the Wii Brick Blocker and followed your advice on the same burn. I assume all games after a certain date need to have this applied to ISOs before burning. Considering Metroid Prime 3 came out a year after the wii, it makes sense to me. so how I find out which games Brick Blocker is needed on? rockman's site seems pretty sparse

Your assumption is incorrect. Brickblocker is only needed for games that contain an out-of-region update. It has nothing to do with when the game came out.

So long as the game is from the same region as your wii, you never need brickblocker.
