I have finally had the RROD on my modded 360. I have a new 360 and I wanted to mod this one also. My question is, now that my 360 is pretty much dead, can I simply swap the disc drive from one to the other. O will i have to entirely flash the new 360. Sorry this is probably a noob question.

YOu Can Also Swap Drives But You Need The Dvd Key But its easier to mod the Original Drive

Repair kits don't work as well as they should. I recommend you send it in for repair. Just make sure the DVD Drive is in it's original state and the warranty seal is still intact and you'll be fine.

Chances are you'll get the new Lite-on DVD drive when you get it back anyway.

Why have it repaired when you can simply have it replaced.. for free? If the 360 doesn't have a HDMI port the chances of getting a Lite-on drive are pretty slim as well.

Says right in the repair thread here on the forum that "99% of all fixed RROD's get RROD again sometime".

well there are a few things that would prevent me from getting it repaired:

1 My xbox is old as dirt its one of the original systems made, and a core system at that its wayyyyy past its warranty.

2 I live overseas in Italy

3 I think I could fix it myself, I've seen enough tutorials and the process looks simple enouhgh

4 I really just want to keep my modded xbox since i was able to use it on XBL with copied games.

So basically I just want to swap DVD drives, just not sure if the new 360 I use will be modded like my damaged one if I do.

If the dvd drives that you have are the same model you can swap out the dvd drive boards.
Say for instance your modded dvd drive is and ms28 and your new drive is the same then you can swap out the boards without flashing.

Otherwise you have to flash the old drive with the new drives dvd key which is retarded because if you can do that you might as well just flash the new one from the get go and then repair the rrod console and keep it or sell it or don't repair it and sell it anyway.

Thanks...the reason why I'm swapping drives is becuase I DONT want to have to flash another one. If I can repair the one with the RROD, than I'll use that one to experiment on.
