need help stting up my external hard drive

I have only started using a pc for the first time a few months ago and have bought an external hard drive to put films on but have not got a clue what to do most films i download are avi files and i would normally use convert xto dvd and put them on disc.ps not to good with computer language please help thankyou

what is your ultimate goal here? do you wanna watch these files using your ps3?

i just bought a WD 1TB extrnal hard drive and i have put all my video files on it. you can use windows media player 11 to stream to your ps3 or you can use other programs like i think nero has one. i use tversity because it can change most files, if they are an usupported file, to the format the ps3 can work with.

but what is your goal here?

I BOUGHT THE HARD DRIVE TO STORE FILMS ON AND TAKE TO THE CARAVAN AND WATCH ON THE TV CAN I DO THIS AND CHEERS FOR THE ADVISE

No need for the CAPS LOCK OF DOOM.

But since you're in the PS3 forum, I'm guessing you want to watch your files through your PS3.

If so, you have to make sure your external HDD is formatted correctly - it needs to be formatted as fat32. If and when it is, then just plonk your avi files on there, hook it up to your PS3, and the PS3 should be able to play them.

sorry for the caps of doom but only new to this site i didnt know i was in the ps3 forum what forum do i need to be in im just using an external harddrive in media player case if that makes sence cheers mate
