I called BB because my PS3 controller is a bit screwed up. I was put on hold and then told that if there was a problem with the controller, theyd replace the entire system. This sounded ridiculous to me but he insisted.

As I understand only he 80gb is for sale now and a 160gb may be out for the holidays. I have a perfectly working 60gb and really no need for that much memory.

Otherwise I guess I could spend $50 on a controller, could use a second one anyway...

I agree with Newcloud. Buy another controller rather than return the entire unit. Or do what I do. I know is shady but it will save you $50. This plans is genius I had my co-workers doing it. Buy another controller preferably from another store. I prefer wal mart cause they just don't care 100% of the time. Open the brand new one. Do the old switch-a-roo and return the defective one and say it all of a sudden "stopped working". Return for a full refund and voila you just saved $50.00. I prefer to wait a day or so but hey going back an hour after the purchase did not stop me before. I did it with my Assassins Creed disc. Mine cracked just where the hole of the Blu Ray was and I bought a new one on a CC. Got the new Game out of the disc, swapped it with the cracked one and got my cash back. Of course I had to make sure that the copy I bought at the store was the last one.

By the way I know the plan is not really genius but just plain sneaky.

One problem with that though it is my preferred method as well, the original controller with the 60gb was the sixaxis, which is widely known for how fast the cuddy things wear out. And you can't do the switcheroo plan from a sixaxis to a dualshock.

I'd say it would be best to fork out the 55 bucks and get a solid DS3 instead of trying to get another sixaxis.

Oh yeah. Thanks Canuckerz. Well just make sure you swap it for a plain old sixaxxis controller. Or you never know you may get away with it. Also personally since it is just a sixaxxis controller, I'd invest in a DS3.

Gamestop used SixAxis. They have a 7 day return policy no questions asked. You can even say that you ended up buying a DS3 so I didn't need this one. Full refund.

When I worote I got my co-workers doing it. I meant that when they had a defective piece of electronic equipment or small appliance. My co-worker just swapped her steam vac cause the one she had broke. She went to Wal Mart and bought a new one, and 1 day after she returned her broken steam vac and kept the new one. I have not had a PS3 controller break on me.
