if you're interested in installing CFW anytime soon you should probably return that one for a different, older, PSP slim...

a new PSP slim coming with OFW 4.05 is nearly guaranteed to be a TA-088 v3 motherboard inside and therefore (at present) unhackable ...

people believe that dark alex will find a way around the protection of the 88 v3 but that hasn't happened yet and may not for a while.

the crisis core package doesn't come with 4.00+ firmware; they were released way earlier and only 77,777 are made.

only way to downgrade a slim is with pandora's battery and magic memory stick.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

if you updated it from 4.01 it could be trouble ... you would need to have had something less than 4 on it originally to be sure you can install CFW...

you should just give it a try anyways... maybe you friend can loan your his pandora battery ??

if you're sure it came with 4.01 though it may very well not work.

no it won't brick ... with the 88 v3 motherboards they just added security that won't let the custom firmware install...
