Got drive into mode B - can't boot to windows now though...

Hey Everyone,

I got my Hitachi v47 into mode B (through Slax) but when I reboot my pc and take the slax disc out, I can't get back to windows, it boots up past bios, but then just goes to a black screen and sits there indefinitely. I never even get as far as the windows loading bar.

This only happens as long as I still have the xbox360 drive still plugged into my computer. As soon as I unplug the sata cable connecting the xbox360 drive, then windows boots fine.

Has anyone run into this before?

If it makes any difference, my PC is running on an Asus P5W DH Deluxe Motherboard and I have the xbox360 drive attached to the sata4 input.

Any help would be great - thanks.

I would recommend trying all the other sata inputs. Specifically try input #1 because that was the key on my machine. Good luck.

after you get the drive into modeb unplug the sata from the drive and then reboot the pc(keep the 360 on,or keep the drive powered) then when the pc restarts and the windows loading bar comes up put the sata cable back in the drive and eject and close the drive a couple of times.

Well what did you do? I'm stuck at that point as well. Windows will start to load, Then freeze. Is this caused by my card or Slax 2.1?

another thing you could try orophin is to use that program I had posted up here a few days ago. It's something you can run to put your hitachi into mode B while in windows. Then, you obviously wouldn't have to worry about loading windows up when it is already started. Let me know if it works

Well here is the thing I'm using a SYBA SY-VIA-150R PCI SATA / IDE Combo RAID Controller Card RAID 0,1,0+1 JBOD - Retail. I've flashed a Samsung and Benq with it.But when I try to do the Hitachi my windows loading screen freezes up when I start hiting Eject on the 360.

If you mean Podgers ModeB I've tried that with no luck either.I just keep geting row after row of dots. Could be doing it wrong not sure.

I'm using Slax 2.1 could it be the card or the slax. I've tried them on another computer same thing.??

I have this card SYBA SY-VIA-150 PCI SATA / IDE Combo Controller Card, Non Raid - Retail on the way I just want to know if its the card, slax, or am I doing something wrong.

With my set up I hit the eject button once to get the slax disk to load up then once again when I see the "spinning up" text.
After that I login with the "root" "toor" combo and then type "reboot"
The slax disk unloads and ejects and my pc reboots to windows. Hope that helps, good luck.

Thanks for the replies.
I've already got it in to mode B with the slax. And I've done the Reboot through Slax. Its when the windows starts to load if I hit eject to make my pc see the drive the Windows loading Screen will Freeze. I've managed to get into my windows only one time and it didn't recognize the Drive.Majority of the times it freezes though. Is this caused by the Chipset on the Card I'm using? Maybe the Slax 2.1?
