I'm not sure of something. When I use DVD Fab Decryptor, does it take the encryption off the file that goes on my computer or the actual disk? Does this also apply for DVD Shrink? I don't think it does but perhaps someone can set me straight.

The programs do not affect the original disk.

dvdfab and dvd shrink (to some degree now, as it is no longer updated) remove

1) the css encryption
2) the structure protection (as Ripguard, Sony ArccOS)
3) unreferenced files protection system
4) cell fragments (another protection)
5) bogus vobs and vts files (still another form of protection)

It does leave the movie and menu and extras unchanged

the origional disc is unaltered, but the backed up file(s) on the HDD are without the encryption.

In essence when you copy the files from a Dvd you are reading the files minue encryptions, and copying them to your HDD. The original DVD is unaffected by this process.
