Schneider DVD-1003 coversion problems

I have a DVD Player named above and I can play Region 1 DVDs with no problems. However when it comes to converting an AVI file to normal DVD files ( VOBs )and then burning. This player will not play the disc.

An error message reads " No Disc " But, I play it in a different DVD and it works. It also will play V CD's but I cannot remember how I made the VCD to play on the Schneider. I tried using nero to convert the AVI file to a VCD but ( the movie I want to put on VCD is 710MB )NERO tells me that the file size is to large at 820MB ????

I used to be able to do pretty much any conversion, but, it seems liek everything, if you don't use your skills you lose them. So I guess I'm learning all over again.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
