Hi,
We´re in Brazil trying to copy for us a friend´s DVD called the 11th Hour...made in UK (6.6GB)
Our DVD Shrink advises us about our region code being 4 and that will lock after 5 tries....
How can we unlock our DVD device from this restriction?

Hi. There is a peice of software called css dvd region free which fools coping software into thinking that the dvd is not region restricted.
http://www.dvdidle.com/download.htm This is a trial download.

Your PC's DVD drive will allow you to change the the region for which it will play DVDs 5 times before it becomes locked to the 5th region it was last set to (you don't want this to happen).

It appears that you are in #4 the Southeast Region of Brazil and the UK is in region 2, so in order to play the DVD on your player, it should be set to region 2. There are ways around this as suggested by SDempsey, but my choice would be using Anydvd form slysoft http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html it does more that just remove region coding.

If you're just going to make a backup of DVDs, DVDshrink can be used to make the files region free (region 0 selection), the files can then be burned to disk and played in any DVD player regardless of its region setting (excluding format PAL/NTSC).
