I just recently bought a flip top ps2 cover and sawp magic 3.6 (yes they gave me 3.8 coder instead ...) from here http://www.playstationmodchip.com/custom...&cat=191&page=1 because i thought it was a really good deal (until i saw the shipping from canada which was $12, but still not bad). So i got the thing today and set it up. The top fitted mostly perfect (it fits, but has a little tiny tiny bit coming out on bottom and the eject and power button gets cramped, not a big deal, i just left out some screws). The thing was the swap magic 3.8 coder, i put in the dvd just to check if it works and i get a disk read problem. Then i put in the cd and that worked for a bit (never asked for the game, i just got a black screen). Also now my ps2 has a cratchy loud disk reading sound. Also i would like to know how to burn ps2 games, i lost my marvel vs capcom 2 T~T... so i got it online and put it onto a cd with nero with 8x speed.
Thanks for helping me or even reading and yes I'm new and i searched and couldn't find much about the 3.8 when i searched. Thanks again.
Also i get a lot of disc errors now.

Try to load both SM v3.8 discs without the flip-top lid. Just use the regular lid and see if it loads. The flippy's are troublesome and are easily the cause of loud scratching noises.

You do need the flippy in order to play backups (or slide, or just no top half of ps2). Though the flippy is not fitting correctly and causing the scratching noise you hear. How hard are you screwing in the screws? That can also make a difference in performance.

actually now i got it to work, i had to file some of the ends to fit and the left 2 screws of the ps2 i did not put back on, for some reason it just doesn't really wanna go back on, but it kinda works fine, a bit unstable, but works like a charm.
Also do you know hwo to burn ps2 iso ir disk images? Cause i found alien hominid (fun game, used to be a flash game, now a fun ps2 arcade game) and i burned it on to a disk and when i use swap magic and boot it it throws me to the red screen telling me to put in a real ps2 format disk.

Hmmm, what kind of media are you using? Also what burn speed.

WEll i'm using Nero to brun on GQ disks. Marvel vs capcom worked for like a day, then i got alien hominid to work and then marvel vs capcom didnt work, and neither did alien hominid. Now i'm confused. Am i suppose to burn cd and dvd a certain way?

Well if you are using +R media it's said you need to set the booktype to DVD-ROM. Otherwise burning at 4x or 8x is good for DVD's and for CD's I would say 16x.
