I installed a wii key on my wii last night. It didn't work so I resaudered with cables this morning. The wii will play original games and the dvd drive is noisier. It will also only load dvds either when I turn on the console or right after i eject a dvd.

I have tried the boot disk, Firmware and backup games and I get read errors and it refers me to the user manual.

I tried using maxell and Verbatim dvds.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way to check whether the chip is good? I bought it from modchip central which is supposed to be an authorized reseller of wii keys.

That is where I got my wiikey, can you post a pic of the install? is it wired long, short, or direct fit? I would like to see a pic not to bash your work but sometimes another set of eyes on a problem can help, make sure there are no bridged connections, and all solder should be smooth and shiny, no big globs! Hope you get it worked out, Also what chip set do you have and are the legs cut?

I also got mine from there. It seems they send out faulty chips every once in a while. Just email them and they're exchange it. Shipping to the US can take up to a month though (2 weeks each way).
