Download Textbook's pdf on how to flash the 360. Get it from http://www.360mods.net/

That will tell you what you need and how to do it.

Don't deviate from it, otherwise you'll brick it.

Find the drive you're using in the guide. It covers every drive to date besides the new "unflashable" lite-on drive. From my brief glance at the Samsung section (I've flashed a Benq and Hitachi, never a Samsung) it appears you need to use the iPrep method which means the use of a thumb drive (do NOT use a floppy and the hard drive method is a pain in the neck) and yes, booting the thumb drive through dos. You sound like you haven't actually read the textbook so for god's sake save yourself a lot of money and read the damn book (at least the entire section on Samsung drives) once then start over and follow the instructions to the letter while you're flashing your drive. As for your motherboard, I think you'll be ok because the textbook does clear nforce chipsets as being compatible with flashing drives, however take my advice and use your #4 SATA port first and if that one doesn't work go to #3, #2, #1. It took my a long time on my first drive because only SATA port #4 would work for flashing my drive. You won't be a "noob" so much once you've read everything you need to read and if you do still feel like one, don't even try this because you'll probably just brick your drive and hate yourself for it.

You don't use a floppy because of the error rate of floppies. Essentially, they have the highest error rate of any medium and that means your drive has the highest probability of being corrupted by a bad flash. Read the textbook, I'm pretty sure it has all that info in there.

when you plug your 360 into the sata port of your computer, it's not like there is some plug and play thing that will pop up. Follow the guide, it will tell you when you should plug it in, but the program will not give you any indication that it is in, until it starts attempting to read from it where the program would then either succeed or fail.

And yeah, use the thumb drive. You can't flash from within windows using iprep. Iprep is a program that prepares your flashdrive to be a bootable device that can flash the 360 drive. The flash drive is the best/easiest way, just go with that

Okay i got alittle further, the iprep software i had was old thats why i was getting the errors, but is there some reason why mtk flash is not reading the sata ports its only picking up the ide primary master and slave? man this is hard as hell. how do you guys get this so easily
