Hi all,

I've had this problem for a week or so and have a pc (running Vista - unfortunately!) with nearly every bit of software recommended on this site installed.
The problem I'm getting is that when I rip my PAL Region 2 dvds I get at least one VOB in the main movie that appears to be blank (although the file size is as would be expected).
I've done this with AnyDVD, DVD43, RipIt4Me, DVDShrink, CladDVD, DVDFab5, the lot. The ones that convert to mpg or mp4 as part of the process product a file that looks the right size in proportion to the VOBs but is only, for example, 56mins of a 2 hour film (including VOB2MPG).
I try importing the VOBs into programs like iPodRobot Video Converter and the bad VOB shows as empty in there - no length or frame rate reported.
I can convert these films on-the-fly into mp4 with the same software but really want a backup of the VOBs on my NAS in case I want to convert to other formats later on. I'm also unsure that on-the-fly conversions will always work going forward as there may be sync issues, etc.
I did manage to get Young Guns to work last night, but Tombstone, Blades of Glory (vts_09_3.vob), Scarface, Dodgeball and True Romance all produce a duff VOB.
I've also tried most of the apps on my Windows XP machine and at least Blades of Glory and Dodgeball still produce a bad VOB.
Am I missing something?

Drag the offending VOB file onto GSpot to see if it contains video.
Press button 1 then button 2 to render and playback the file.

Thanks for the advice.
Looks ok in Gspot to me but I'm no expert. The file plays ok (at least the first minute) but the 'Cue' scroller won't work so I can't forward to future points in the VOB.
Anything in particular I should look for otherwise?

After more research, there appear to be 3 discontinuities in the problematic VOB. There's only 1 in each of the other VOBs.
I'm guessing this may be due to the condition/age of the DVD?
One is GOP Time, one System Time and one Temporal Sequence.
Is there any way to fix these?
