Does it do it every time you try to start the game or did it just do it once and you haven't tried it again yet?

Because even with the most recent wiikey firmware you can occasionally get error 001. I get it with SMG from time to time, but I just reboot the wii and try again and it works.

It is because nintendo is blocking illegal copy's of mario kart.

Because ton's of people where using illegal copy's online.

Which destroyed the game for everyone else.

How does using an illegal copy online destroy the game for everyone else? I play mine online and just play it offline and nothing has been destroyed in my brothers game which I backed up.

Don't listen to susieqbbb, some people try to give trash answers, such as that, that help no one.

Anyways.... do you know anyone else that has a modded wii also? I highly doubt it is your media, but you could always rule it out by testing your backup on someone else's modded wii. Most likely it is the soldering job. Do you have any other backups, and has it worked with those previously? And if so, do they still work, or now do all backups say an unauthorized device is detected?

I also play my backup online of Mario kart without a problem

Yea, i have few other backup games gc and wii, and those all work like a charm, i havent done anything different no other blank dvds or nothing everything is the same. ive also tried that ppf thing which you inject into mk iso, with no luck though... even tried that brick block thing but no, nothing always that same 001 error :(

1 thing crossed my mind though when i bought the wiikey i installed it myself and i have never tested that its firmware 1.9s i was told so, is there away to see what firmware is flashed into it ? maybe with that config disc ? havent done that yet because im afraid that i mess my wiikey since everything else exept mario kart works fine...

and i highly doubt its the soldering job since ive donit myself, and im pretty confident that i did that right, and since everything else works fine...

You would not get that error because of bad media. You would get the disc could not be read error not the #001 error.

You should at least download the 1.9s update and run it making sure the firmware has been updated.

is there any possibility in there that i could fuck up my wii? What if my wii is running firmware 1.9s already?

It will just overwrite the firmware. If your that afraid use the recovery disc which will recover it to 1.9b ( I think that is what the recovery disc reverts back to). Then update to 1.9s.

Your only other option would be to patch the #001 error from the ISO. But then you would have to install the Homebrew Channel and use Gecko OS to boot the game disc (or use TP hack to boot Gecko OS if you don't want the homebrew channel).

The reason you would need to boot via Gecko OS is because the patcher will trucha sign the disc which your 3.3E will block from running. Gecko OS will avoid this and boot any game that has been trucha signed.

If you already patched the ISO to disable the #001 error then you will not be able to boot it becuase of your 3.3E firmware. I would try booting it via Gecko OS to see if it boots.

Even if your wiikey is already at 1.9s updating with s again wont hurt anything. Of course if you're already at 1.9s then updating again wont help anything either, but it wont hurt to try it.
