USB to SATA w/ Toshiba - Samsung drive?

Here is my dilemma. I am attempting to flash 2 xbox 360 pro's and I do not have a PC at the moment, only a laptop. I looked at the 2008 guide for dummies and the 2 xbox's I am attempting to flash have the same dvd tray that is labeled Toshiba - Samsung in the pdf tutorial. Before I start taking these things apart and start sparks flying, I am wondering if anyone has successfully flashed one of these drives using usb to sata converter?

Is it easier for me to just buy the dvd rom (Hitachi 46/47/59)that can be flashed with a usb to sata cable? Will the drive have to be "married" to the unit in some way? Or can it just be swapped out?

Any help is appreciated.

there are PCIMA cards out there with the via 6421 chipset that can be used with a laptop to flash the samsung or benq drives.

Thank You for your reply, I see some on ebay but they don't say what chipset is used. Is there any way to tell? Any particular brand?

not sure on a brand as i dont use one, so just go to newegg or tigerdirect or some similar place, and search them, and read the read the reviews would be my suggestion.
