I have just installed a DC2Pro solderless chip, http://wii-repairs.com/osc/product_info....&products_id=34

I reads original games ok but it doesn't seen to like the game I downloaded!!!!! When I put it in it spins for a few seconds, when I click on the disc icon in the wii menu it says 'Unable to read disc'

Am I right in thinking that it the chip wasn't sat on the board correctly the originals wouldn't work? I don't have another backup to try at the moment, maybe the one I downloaded doesn't work!! I have tried Ritek +R and Panasonic -R and Maxell -R, all burnt with imgburn x2 with Pioneer writer.

Can anyone advise me?

I also have the same problem. I backed up a couple of game onto Sony DVD+R's. one worked, one worked one day and not the next and one all I got was the unable to read error.
The advise given to me was to use the best quality disks. I ordered Verbatim DVD-R's, they wont arrive untill Monday. So I'm just waiting, I'll let you know of my results..

Great thanks mate, Seems strange that none of DVD-R's work!!!

Do you if the chip isn't seated right the originals won't work either?

If the Wii-Clip wasn't seated right then more then likely your backups will not work. But that doesn't necessarily mean the originals would be effected.

Take off the Wii-Clip and make sure all leg pins on the drive chipset are straight and not bent. Then replace the Wii-Clip back on. Make sure it is seated properly.

If you still have issues then try using better media (verbatim/Tayio Yudens/Ritek). Wii systems can be very picky at the media it will read. Burn the ISO with ImgBurn at 4x speed. If you use DVD+R media try booktyping the media to DVD-ROM using ImgBurn if your burner supports it.

Thanks, looks like the clip is very secure, how will I remove it without damaging it?

It should snap right off.

Did you double check the images that I had posted in your other thread?

It is a D2C and not a D2C2 right?

I checked the chip before I put the clip on, it said GC2-D2C.

I checked with WiU1.1, the image and it looks OK.

I think it must be the chip as it seems very odd that none of my media works!!!

How can the pins on the clip bend, I made sure it was seated correctly before I pushed it down.

Thanks

It should be a D2C so the modchip should work.

Did you set the region on the Modchip?

USA = JP1 and JP2 should be open
Jap = JP1 should be short JP2 should be open.
PAL = JP1 should be open JP2 should be short.

The region setting needs to be set so make sure it is.

Yeap you do.

If it is PAL you need to short JP2 with some solder.

I assume it is a PAL since you ordered the Modchip from a UK website.

I have no idea why they haven't included the region JP settings in the guide but you need to do it.

If you go to the D2CPro website it tells you to set the region setting using JP1 and JP2.

The instillation for D2CPro is HERE.

You have to make sure the correct setting has been made for your region Wii.

Original games do not go through the Modchip only backups do. So Original games will not be effected.

Since you have a PAL Wii JP2 needs to be short (closed). There is no other way around it. IT NEEDS TO BE DONE!

So look at JP2 on the Modchip and make sure it has been closed with solder. If it has not been closed then you will need some solder and soldering iron to close it.

I have highlighted JP2 with a red box in the image below...
