Wii System update wont update from disc

My Wii system upgrade from 3.1U to 3.2U won't load off disc.

My WiiKey is 1.2US and I intend to upgrade to 1.9s. I was told I need to upgrade the system to 3.2U is needed to make the WiiKey 1.9s upgrade.

My problem is that, a month ago I tried had tried to play the Mario Kart)and got the 001 error) and didn't accept the upgrade the first time. Now when I put in the disc it doesn't try to make an upgrade of the firmware.

Is there any way to force the 3.2U upgrade form the disc. I don't want to try the Internet upgrade as I have not seen anyone blessing the online version as problem free.

There is nothing wrong with upgrading via internet.

the online update is the SAFEST way, because it will always download the correct region.
