To start off--Sorry if this is repetitive.
I took over ownership of my son's PSP Fat OFW 3.95
I'd like to mod it and from all the data I've read, it's possible, but, I've yet to confirm that it can be done solely on Mac OSX. If I need a use Windows O/S I'll simply use the PSP as a paperweight (Sort of).
My eyes are hanging out of my head with all the reading I've done and it seems even with the so-called on a Mac stories I've read, they always refer back to "Click the START button, then click Run, Etc" This ain't a Mac button in any sense of the word.

Bottom line=Is there a way to accomplish it via OSX or not.

Thanks ever so much for any and all info.

as far as i know, it cannot be done on macs. all programs were written in windows.

best you can do is bootcamp windows xp or find someone that runs windows xp already.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Hey cee43ja1-
Thanks for confirming my suspicions. As of now I don't have the latest OS to run Windows. I "might" be able to use someones XP, but, I've gotta check into it. Does it need to be XP Pro?

Anyway, thanks for the info and the quick response..
Have a great weekend, or what's left of it anyway!

any xp will work. vista is a 50/50 chance.

Cool.
I may go the battery route since it will set it up to 1.5 and then my OS will allow me to transfer files back and forth. I don't think I need windows for that part since it's just a transfer of data and not actual processing. I could be wrong, but at least the battery will get it rolled back.

Thx again

a pandora battery does nothing without a properly configured memory stick. it has no data... the PSP recognizes it as a 'service mode' battery and attempts to load custom software from the memory stick in the card reader slot...

your best bet is to get a virtual machine running inside your mac and install XP on it. from my testing with VMware on vista x64 it was able to properly configure a memory stick through a VMware XP installation...

Hey Donaldo,
Thanks much for the reply and info. Can I back up the info that's currently on the stick prior to the reformatting of the stick, as well as re-import it? I'd love to save all my game data.
I now have access to an XP box (Neighbor), so I can now run the process. How long "should" it take to reformat/etc(Downgrade to 1.5)? I'm not even sure what CFM I should shoot for, once I get it back to 1.5 that is.
The biggest thing I'm looking for is taking all the umd's and loading them on the stick(2Gig). I'm not even sure of all the other goodies I can do with a modded version, but, I'm sure there's a few items that I'll like. I heard there is a skype app I can load to use via WiFi, not that it is real important.

I'm on 10.4.9 and that's all I can go since my processor is not able to go any farther. No new box till next year(Boo Hoo).

Hey I'd really like to thank you for the heads up on this.
If I asked too much(Above) don't feel obligated to spell it out.

Thanks again--Big Time!!

i have very little experience with kernel 1.50 cause i use a slim and its not compatible. from what i've heard though its really a thing of the past. its popular for running very specific homebrew applications that require it...

for what you're talking about, running ISO's, you don't need or want kernel 1.50. you want the latest CFW from dark alex which is 4.01 m33-2

there is a guide from larry on this site which explains the process of installing CFW on both FAT/Slim psp's.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313

the guide walks you through creating the magic memory stick which is what you would need to do at your neighbors house. depending on how well you understand the guide this process could take only a few minutes and once it's done you don't need his XP computer anymore. it would be wise to study the guide very carefully so you understand exactly what needs to be done and you get it right the first time.

to your other questions i'm not too sure about backing up your save data and i don't think you can do anything with skype on a FAT

That's awesome bro--Thanks so much. I'll read thru the article tomorrow and see where I stand. I have the aptitude and know how--just not the directions(Which I will soon, thanks to you), so I'll let you know how it goes. I've got a Trig test tomorrow and it's already 11:30pm here in So Cal. I've got to be up @ 4:30am (Yeah I know OUCH), so I'm pretty much cooked for tonight.

AGAIN--Thanks a ton!!

I'll keep you apprised to the progress.
