I have been having problems with my PS3 and changing my NAT Type from 3 to 2. I tried to do everything; DMZ, port forwarding, ect. Then I got on some forums and found out that the modem I have my DSL through has problems with the PS3.

I went and got a switch thinking that everything would be peacy but it was still NAT 3. I went into the Modem settings and changed my IP from private to public....after that I got NAT type 1! YEAH!

My PC is connected to the same switch. Am I going to run into any problems with having my IP set to public? I still have my older D-Link router, is there anyway I can hook that back up and get NAT 2? If I am not going to have any problems I would rather leave it like it is but if there is going to be security issues then I will re-hook my D-Link router up!

Any info would be GREAT! If you need any info let me know!

What brand switch do you have?
Does it have a gamming mode?
Can you dial into your switch with http://192.168.1.1 ?
Have you set up a static IP on your PS3?

I took the switch out and went back to using my D-Link wireless router and now I have NAT type 2. Some times it switches back to 3 and I dont know why that is but for most of the time it is 2.
