i hope they're making progress because im dieing without a modded 360.(not rly :P). I hope they will come up with somethin soon.

360mods.net has a forum where they talk about the progress of the drive. So you can check on there, but I definitely am also hoping that it will come soon.
Also, I don't know how to do it yet because I've never had to, but you can read the drive key from the liteon, which if you could put on another drive, then you could swap out the dvd drive from a lite-on to a flashable one

do u guys think they will find out how to mod before this coming holiday? since the price cut everyone is buying xbox 360 and everyone wil be so happy if they can download and play games for free. ho ho ho. merry christmas

or they could spend 30-40 bucks and just buy a diff drive and mod it. i doubt there will be a fix by x-mas but who knows. you have to remember they take holiday breaks too.

what do u mean by buying a differnt drive and mod it? r u telling me that you can actually mod a samsung dvd drive and then swap it on the new lite on dvd drive and it will work?

if you spoof it, it will make the lite on xbox 360 recongize it as another dvd drive? bottom line is that there is a way to play modded lite on xbox 360? is this process hard? buying another dvd drive and spoof it? I heard from some people taht if u do that, your xbox lives will get permanently banned. is this true?

There's way to get the key and while obtaining that, you'll also pull the imquiry.bin which allows you to spoof. I know it requires alot of work and there's supposed to be an easier solution coming out soon. Hell,here's the thread where I got all this info.

So how long after the BENQ drives appeared was their firmware hacked? I might buy a Lite-On this week, since I don't want to hunt around for an old (possibly broken) console, and I want to know how long I can expect to wait before being able to play burned games.

I believe the BENQ drives started coming out in Dec 06, and the CMDR4Eva brought that Iextreme mod out in Aug 07, so ruffly 8/9 months. I would wager Lite ons would not be moddable till after
March/April 09.
